Guest house Ema — Hotel in Grad Daruvar

I cannot stress enough how disappointed we were with our stay at Guest House Ema. If I could give a rating of zero, it would be well-deserved for the owner of this establishment.||When we booked the vacation house over the phone, we were promised a three-room accommodation with a living room and two bedrooms for our family and two children (ages 12 and 13). However, upon arrival, we were greeted with a cold shower of disappointment. The owner showed us the kitchen on the ground floor and led us to three bedrooms upstairs, without a living room. To our shock, we discovered that the kitchen was already occupied by a married couple. We immediately contacted the owner, who admitted that she had rented out the living room and kitchen to another couple during our stay. It was unbelievable that this information was not communicated to us earlier. Despite expressing our dissatisfaction and lack of privacy, the owner did not apologize or make any effort to rectify the situation during our two-day stay. On our departure, she simply instructed us to leave the key in the door.||Even more astonishing was the fact that the other couple was also unaware of our presence in the facility. The owner had only mentioned after renting them a room that someone else would be staying in the house. Imagine the awkwardness of sharing a facility with strangers when you were expecting privacy!||The owner of Guest House Ema exemplifies someone who has no business being in the hospitality industry. It is clear that her only concern is making money, and she has no regard for guest satisfaction. I am posting this to warn others about the dangers of staying at this establishment. Fortunately, we have never had such negative experiences in Slavonia or any previous accommodations.||Here are a few additional observations and warnings for anyone considering this facility:|• Pay close attention to what the landlady is renting to you, as she is willing to conceal important facts. Make sure to inquire if you will have exclusive use of the entire house and if there is a living room with a TV.|• The photos displayed on booking websites do not accurately represent the true condition of the property. Details have been embellished or altered to showcase the property in a more favorable light. You may not find the same attractive furnishings or the rooms may appear much less appealing.|• Check the condition of appliances and amenities in the house before renting. For instance, we found no batteries in the air conditioner remote, and one of the TVs in the rooms was non-functional.|• Do not expect the facilities to be well-maintained, as the owner clearly does not invest in the apartment. We encountered issues such as a shower pipe falling on a guest's head during use and separation of the paneling above the entrance door. A responsible host would have promptly addressed these issues. Additionally, you may be fortunate if there is enough liquid soap provided, as we had only a minimal amount that lasted half a day.||To end on a positive note - this experience was an exception, but it highlights the importance of emphasizing it. If the owner has any talent for this business, I hope she takes this feedback seriously and considers changing her approach. For the past four years, we have been visiting Slavonia and central Croatia with our children.
