Left after a week feeling hugely disappointed for a number of reasons below:
Staff - Some lovely staff but largely I found the staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful. The man who runs the pool gift shop, is just downright rude.
Accommodation - We stayed in the superior Family with Sea views. But be aware, you may not end up with this when booking a superior family home, most actually are set back from sea and hidden in trees, marketing for these homes is misleading that all will have sea views. Internal space is tiny in living areas, luckily the terrace is substantial to spill out on .
Facilities in mobile - Very poor, in other up market campsites we have had Nespresso machine to have a nice coffee, you only get a drip coffee maker in mobile. The biggest issue however was there was no bbq or plancha outside for cooking. I have never seen this in all my years touring campsites in Europe. I think in part to try to force people not to cook in their accommodation and use over priced restaurants
Pool area - Very chaotic, either no life guard at all or when there was ONE, he sat 30 yards away from pool at back sitting area with no real view of pool. He was largely on his phone so didn't seem to care much at all. on 1st of July they brought in a policy that you must pay for your sun loungers by the pool! I had payed EUR 2,500 to stay in a nice campsite with good facilities, and now was being told that I had to pay an additional cost of EUR8 per bed to look after my children by the pool. I complained dto reception and was told it was because it was getting too busy. The reason it was too busy is there was no monitoring of who was using the facility, you were supposed to be gaining entry to poll area by using and electronic bracelet to get through security gates. The security gates either did not work or were removed completely, so I saw 60/70% of people in pool without bands. But campsite would not care as long as people are there spending money in bar and restaurants.
Restaurants - Extremely expensive - no kids menu at all - EUR 5 for soft drinks, main courses generally EUR26
Evening Entertainment - We were there during Euros football, so that was prioritsed on screen. Nights where there was entertainment, it was very quiet and poorly attended again because people didn't want to pay expensive prices for a drink.
Super market - Only open limited hours, closed at 2-3pm . Again seemed to be sest up to force people to eat in restaurants, and drink in bars. Why else would a supermarket be closed during peak dining hours?!
A couple of positives - Campsite is in beautiful setting, beaches and landscaping are very well maintained.
Kids games room is excellent - new PS5's and Nintendo switches to play on. But be warned kids need to share there console with others in same accommodation, even when it is quiet and 60% of consoles are free.
Will not be returning. Urge others to look elsewhere! or do what it seemed a lot of others do, go to a cheaper campsite and then visit Vestar and use the facilities...
Read moreWell kept camping village in a beautiful bay, located so that the entire area slopes downwards towards the seaside. The reception/ check-in is located on the top, where the Mini-market and event area is also situated.
The Mini-market (Konzum) offers most of the groceries you need, but we found it way too expensive compared to supermarkets in Ronvinj.
Most of the camping pitches are sloping, some more than others, so we had to use several wooden blocks and level wedges to get our caravan level.
We had a large pitch in second row to the sea, which gave us a nice view overseeing the bay area and provided a cooling breeze from the sea. We also had good WiFi coverage, which worked quite well most days, and the internet bandwidth was acceptable.
The toilet facilities/building closest to us was quite new and modern, but the capacity was insufficient during morning and afternoon peak hours. I have never experienced having to wait in line for a toilet or shower before, but that was the reality some days. The water pressure in the shower during peak hours was also really bad, and you had to do the hot/cold water limbo. On the positive side, it seemed like they had a cleaning crew constantly cleaning the building.
Even though there were speed limit signs everywhere, it was completely ignored by the many electrical scooters driving around like crazy. This was quite annoying and I really don’t like this trend that seems to grow every year. The rules are for everyone, so the campsite needs to create a culture, so that everyone can walk around safely. I was almost hit twice in my car by electrical scooters coming downhill, ignoring both the speed limit and a Stop sign.
The seaside/beach is rocky and therefore the water is very nice and clear. It is possible to rent a sunbed, but due to the ridiculous price level, we just brought our own sun loungers.
They have a midsized pool area, with different pools to accommodate all ages. We didn’t really use it that much, because it was quite crowded in there and we preferred the seaside area.
In the same area as the pool, they also have a little bakery that offers a variety of really good bread, a fruit-market and what I would call a beach shop. They also have 4 charging point for electrical cars, and they don’t charge anything for the consumption.
Unfortunately they don’t have a camping store, which I do expect on a 5 star campsite.
The campsite has a few restaurants spread out on different locations and we had pizza’s from Basilico a couple of nights. Our kids really liked the pizza, but I found the base a bit too doughy for my taste.
So with everything taken into consideration, we enjoyed a good week here, and we actually liked the place. But in my book I can only give it 3 stars, and that’s because I review it as a 5 star Campsite. I think the price level is too high, and even if you blame inflation or the introduction of the Euro, it doesn’t really...
Read moreAs on their internal review, I give them 4 out of 5 possible stars because it is possibly a pricey affair which doesn't get cheaper if you spend additional money on sunbeds by the pool, trampoline jumping or paddle boats. Pool bar staff may also have had a bad day (one time), contributing to the rating. Five days later, closer to our departure, things look differently. If you can afford a "SUPERIOR mobile home" and book early you may just get a spot five meters from the sea, being able to enjoy breakfast to the sound of breaking waves. If you are unlucky, some idiots may be disturbing your sleep with blaring music, for example, from a sailing boat close by.
The beach on this side of the bay is as clean as it gets (very clean, actually), facilities are modern and clean also, staff are consistently nice as well as genuinely helpful, and your kid may just love the experience (pending your willingness to pay extra for the things mentioned above and perhaps more).
Personally, I was most impressed with the kitchen we had in our "mobile home", which was more of a bungalow than a mobile home. The kitchen was well equipped for six people, so it's possible to rely on one's cooking skills. We were a family of three and did enjoy our quality stay.
Final note: Internet and cell phone coverage are patchy but I have no doubt this will...
