Cava Brač — Hotel in Grad Supetar

There literally isn't a bad table at this entire mountainside restaurant overlooking the Adriatic Sea. As if the view wasn't enough, the food is incredible--one of the best meals we had in Croatia. A straightforward menu focussed on gnocchi and traditional "under the bell" dishes (which must be pre-ordered) clearly allows the chef to put the most in what is being served. We had the gnocchi ratatouille and the gnocchi goulash which is the house version of the traditional Pasticada dish. While both were delicious and fresh, we used the homemade bread to clean the Pasticada plate, not wanting to miss a single bite. For dessert they served up Hropocusa, a traditional dish native to Dol (so important it is a piece of UNESCO protected cultural heritage), a sort of nutty baclava meets coffee cake flavor. The restaurant was only a few weeks old when we went (we learned about it from our AirBnB host who is also the owner) but everything seemed to be working flawlessly. Cava Retreat will surely become one of the best and most sought after places to dine...

The olive oil that was on the table is a total lie and this in the center of high-quality olive oil production! Probably 20% olive oil, 80% soybean oil. Sad.

The lamb was cold. Probably cooked in the morning. The meat portion for a woman is too small.

The waiter was correct and friendly 10/10. Ambiance 9/10 The price is totally too high, for the quality of food we received.

Dear owner. You have a great location, but the quality of the food is poor and unfair. Unfortunately, you are a beautiful negative example of a restaurant, because of which Croatia has very negative reviews in all foreign media.

This is a place which informed consumers like us are looking for. Cava Brać is a new place on an island and you better go and check it right away before they become so popular there will be no tables availabe! :) What we appreaciated was the fact they use and respect local product, serve vegetarian dishes (which is so rare in Croatia), add modern twist to those that are well known and they bake their own bread. PROPER Bread which you will not find In Croatia. It was so good and we loved it so much they gave us one loaf in a present! If all of that is not enough the view and the spot are excuisite.
