Dvorac Gjalski — Hotel in Grad Zabok

We booked Hotel Dvorac Gjalski for a 3 day trip. We were searching for a good starting point for all the castles and museums that we planned to visit in the nearby area. The hotel is located on a light slope near Zabok. Its very easy to find. We were there between Christmas and New Year and the hotel wasnt crowded. It's a heritage hotel and it has a significat historic value for Croatia as it was home to the famous writer Ksaver Sandor Gjalski. The room we booked was the one with a king size bed and jacuzzi in the room. Since we haven't traveled for more than 2 years we wantet to treat ourselves. The room itself was great: big king size bed, a minibar corner, big jacuzzi with a tv above, great size bathroom with walk in shower. We were delighted. They prepared the jacuzzi before so it was almost ready when we arrived (we arrived earlier than we planned) so we hopped in and relaxed for a while. They have a great menu offer but we decided to explore the restaurants nearby. The offer on the buffet for breakfast was very good. A nice choice of salami, bacon, eggs, yoghurt, cereals, croissants and ect. The only downside of the room was a loud minibar which we turned off at night because we couldn't sleep as it maked a loud noise from...

Simply perfect! Interior is amazing, old style, but everything new, nicely decorated and cozy. It is easy to relax and enjoy. Maybe small noise from the street over the day, but very peacful in the night. There is a private parking for the guests and very nice playground for the children.

The food is excellent! They two kinds of menu - some standard food you can find everywhere and really amazing dishes you can enjoy taste. It is obvious that chef knows what he is doing. Dining room, as well as terrace with fountain and lot of different flowers are beautiful.

But, the most important part in a hotel/restaurant are people. And stuff here is above 4 star hotel, from the receptionsts to waiters and maids. They are kind, polite, ready to help, explain and make you realy feel as a king or queen. After all, this is castle, isn't it?

Restaurant service - decent. No complaint. Restaurant staff could make more effort in making guests feel welcomed. This being said, they were ok. They did nothing wrong Food - great! Food quallity is excelent! Reception - nice & friendly staff Rooms - We found dead roaches. Central heating was only in the bathroom. There is an electric heater in the room. Room had a bowl with some candies. It's a castle and rooms are decorated in that way. Would be great without first 2 points I mentioned.
