I came to the Bluesun hotel as a recommendation from our travelling agency (which we used for more then 18 years). This is hotel I will criticizes on the following topics: hospitality, food, room, facilities and others ( this can be about location or things the hotel can spat out of other hotels. Let me start with the bad first to then go to the good parts of this hotel. Room: The room isn't as spacious as other 5-star hotels give, beside that can anyone from the door looking straight in the shower. We had the displeasure of experience the remaining part of the mosquito plague that was present in Croatia. But the hotel wouldn't apply any remedies for this. Well all you had to do was putting a "electric mosquito repellent" in the room and just behind the sliding door put a sliding fly screen to prevent mosquitoes from entering the room. Which is in my eye a big minus point. Facilities: there is a spa-wellness , a fitness, a swimming pool, a more chill pool, a restaurant, a buffet, parking, on the beach a renting spot for beach chair and/or a parasol and lastly 2 bars. The spa is only a spa, it doesn't allow any specific massages like a sport-massage. The fitness is just laughable how small it is and how little there is of equipment. Calling this a fitness is just an insult to a real gym. On the beach the hotel provides services like the beach chair and parasol but still makes you pay for it (despite the fact you spend around 400€ a night for 2 people). Which just shows you they just want to milk you dry any chance they can. The parking they provide is sadly to small for this hotel and needs to be bigger (also yes the charge you money for it 5€ a night without mention it anywhere). The rest is all fine except to buffet, the buffet suffers from typical buffet problems. Such as: your place getting stolen, a big line of waiting, etc. All this can be solved easily by just putting a host at the desk asking the question " do you want to sit outside or inside ?" based on the answer check quickly if there is a table free and that table will be for these clients only. So it would be a win-win, the clients have there table and the hotel knows exactly which table is free and which one is in use. To fixing these long waiting lines just have the same plate be present somewhere else so you divide the waiting time easily. Also instead of the buffet be open from 19-21, maybe do it from 18-21. You allow people to come earlier and avoid this big rush that happens cause you only have 2hours in total. Food: the food is good put falls in repetition quite quickly, after 5days you have seen the entire buffet. Nothing new as a main dish or so will be present. And deserts are practically almost always the same just a small mix here and there but not much. hospitality: there is a majority of the personal working there who really go above and beyond in their services (some not so much, but hey what can you do about it). Others: a car is really needed here, cause otherwise you will be bored out of your mind after just 2 to 3 days. If you are just a sun lover, who just loves laying in the sun from 8 till 18 then this would be great hotel for you. But if you want to see something, you really need a car to drive around a visit Split, Trogir, Makarska,...

In short, this isn't a 5 star hotel. This is at most of what they offer a 3star hotel. The only thing that makes it a 5 star hotel are the persons working there and really try so hard to help you with what ever you need. This is only the reason why i give it a 4/5 for services otherwise would this hotel have to deal with a failed...

Like another review said, there are so many simple small things this hotel gets wrong, that add up to make it nowhere near a 5* resort. From the moment we entered: no one greets you to take your bags, unlike Turkish/ Egyptian / Asia stays. The man on the desk rushed us up/ down steps & gestured to our room down a corridor, rather than taking us there & making us feel welcomed. He was the least welcoming front of house staff I've met.

Room was small - no place to store or unpack cases. Just enough room to turn around in the bathroom, no toiletry storage space. The hotel rectified this on the 2nd day with a huge apartment - but I don't believe any room for a 5* should be this small. Both rooms had ant issues all over the balcony, making it impossible to enjoy the balcony area.

When you get to the room, you can't use the mini fridge for your own items. But the hotel has no access to any drinking water, except at breakfast time or paying an extortionate €5 for small bottle (plus "service" charge) - at evening meals you cannot get water unless you pay, again the hotel rectified this it's crazy they take away the breakfast water just to exploit you for more €€. The staff all agreed but all said "sorry it's the rules we are told to follow"

The service at the bar in the evening is so slow, I dread to think what peak season is like

The pool area is cramped, with so many loungers together it's claustrophobic. The pools are small & more about the "instagram" look than enjoyable spaces But atleast there's loungers, cos when you pop to the beach they exploit you for more € by charging €12 per lounger (there's a cheaper guy along the beach) - I found this disgraceful for a "5*" hotel.

There is no drink facility at the beach, so you either need to go up 106 steps to the hotel or to the pool bar. Many families struggled carrying buggy.

The pool bar serves up half cups of coffee for €3.5 - again disappointing, you need to order 2 to get a normal coffee size The evening meal is 7-9 with small buffet area, it's overcrowded & makes it unenjoyable.

Food was very samey but was nice.

The hotel is soulless - no atmosphere, no charm, very robotic. It is definitely not 5* & miles behind hotels worldwide & no sign of 5* service. The evening singers were good despite losing their audience taking long breaks.

Positives - beach is beautiful, food was good, it's clean - Ante, beach boy, Mihaela, Roko & the blonde young lady on reception were all lovely.

I'd never stay here again & I wouldn't recommend the hotel just save money & book a small local cheaper hotel as the beaches are public . Which is the first time I've ever left a review like this. Thoroughly disappointing & overrated. Shame the Croatian entrepreneur sold it out to the Middle Eastern...

Our experience was just amazing! Period 8-15/09. I read a lots of reviews before i book this hotel and i am very pleased with our choice. First: Parking - my experience was great, at our arrival a car was just exist the parking and i found parking cover in front of the hotel. It’s true that the cars are parked in 2line but the hotel is doing the best to satisfy all the customers. Second: the food - the most important, was very very goood that satisfied our experience. For breakfast you have everything, from fresh fruits to yoghurt, cheese, omlette. The nice thing you can have your own omlette every morning, ham and cheese was the best for us. I confirm there are coffee makers machine (cappuccino, latte etc). Dinner exceed our expectations, different meat each evening, pork, fish, poultry, duck, veal. Very very tasty please keep it as it is or best . All the meats that we try was perfect cooked amazing beaf, sword fish! A lots of sweets to try most of them were very good. It’s true you need to pay at dinner for the drinks but it was known from the beginning. It’s a 5 star hotel the prices for drinks are generally the same. A glass of read wine 5,50€, a beer (the local one) 4,50€ but it was ok. Third: the room - Not spectacular, it’s like the pictures but it’s nice and clean, spacious a lot, very nice shower experience, nice view from the balcony. Will be better if they will renovate, for sure. Cleaning service very professional every day, changing the towels each day, was nice. The hotel it’s very clean and luxury, the lobby it’s just great, terrace with bars and quiet zone to relax or enjoy drinks. The infinity pool exceed my expectations, nice view, clean. We found sun beds every day, a lots available (maybe because it’s September), nothing to comment on that. The beach it’s very close, of cours there are like 100 stairs to walk but it was fine. It’s very nice and clean, Crystal clear water, you can rent sun beds from private. Great walks along the coast under the pine tree very nice. Generally our experience was 5 and we will come back here for sure. The beaches around and the area are very clean and nice.
