Hotel Bitoraj Fuzine — Hotel in Općina Fužine

we've been going to fuzine for many, many years (as a matter of fact, i first went there in the year 2000!). that is also where i met my wife! and for many years we have been having pivo and horseradish soup (excellent!) and amazingly generous portions of strudel with apple and cheese, or, everyone's favourite, blueberries strudel. we have grown to know the people working there, in the restaurant and share real life stories with them.||this year, with all the reluctance regarding traveling under the pandemic, we decided to start one of our board meeting trips with a few days in the hotel. we were beautifully surprised by how clean and neat and large the rooms were! under the circumstances, we felt very safe. and we managed to have some good rest in their big beds.||we want to underline the exceptional breakfast we received every morning and the very kind care of the staff, all of them, which we got to be served by along the days we spent there.||we give this 5 stars, and we mean it! we look forward to going back there and visiting our...

The restaurant is a sad attempt of croatian local cuisine tourism and elite 4* service. Except the polite and professional stuff, the food is mediocre and definitely overpriced. We had deer and boar goulash, fortunately we weren't very hungry because the portions are poor with a few pieces of not so quality meat. Oh, and they've also charged us couvert for 2 persons that we haven't been informed in advance neither we've ever paid this kind of service anywhere in Croatia and we have been eating in much better restaurants than this. It used to be one of my favorite places in the area but recently became too much commercialized and service level went down. We were charged for small appetizer that they served us once we sat, we never ordered it nor we were told it's chargeable, beside it wasn't any good and we left it. Although the menu is comprehensive, lots of the items aren't available and you are restricted to whatever they decided to cook this day. Prices went up of course, I would rate it above average prices of similar places. Service was very slow and I received my food cold despite it's a lamp which they do in big batches and should be ready to serve quickly. It is just sad how a nice place can...
