Our choir group of 30 was traveling on a tour and stayed at Hotel La'Gus for a few nights. Great setting as its on a hill and has a nice view and patio but nothing around the hotel to see or do. Breakfast was not very good and very limited. The coffee machine, which is a must, for travelers wasn't working properly and was very watered down and sometimes you would get hot chocolate when pressing the coffee button. If you asked for a cappuccino that was drinkable you had to pay extra. Very little English is spoken. Even with our large group only 8 yogurts would be out on the breakfast table and maybe 5 bananas with none replaced. The carpet didn't have padding under it in the rooms, no shelf in the shower which leaves you nowhere to put toiletries. These are small annoyances but the main issue we had was a wedding reception was held outdoors one evening and very loud music was played until 5:00 a.m.! Sleep was not an option no matter what you tried to do!! Horrible for the...
Read moreStayed at the Hotel La'Gus for 2 nights, I arrived on a Friday, we to my room, then popped out for a couple of hours, the restaurant was still open so decided to eat there. I had an excellent Steak meal washed down with a couple of beers! The Receptionist informed me that there was a Wedding reception on the Saturday evening and that it may be a bit noisy from the music, I assumed it would be finished by Midnight, no she said, it is a Croatian Wedding and they go on until 4 or 5 am! She said she would move me to a room as far away from the music as possible. The next night I came back at around midnight and the reception was in full swing, and even in the new room I could hear the music, it eventually finished at 4.45am, fortunately I was able to sleep through most of it, but I had a lie in on the Sunday. Breakfast was OK, not a great choice...
Read moreWhile staying with my brother-in-law's family in Zadar, we took a little overnite road trip to the north. Wow, what change in terrain from the Dalmatian Coast....much as I would expect Austria to be....intending to be spontaneous, we had no plans for where to stay over. La'Gus was recommended to us by our luncheon waitress. I was wonderfully surprised! It was all so different from the states. Our registrar was English speaking, patient, kind and over the top helpful. She helped me to understand their WIFI and print our boarding passes. And our room!! It was an interesting experience in a good way! The bed, bedding, bathroom, etc! WOW....and a fabulous European breakfast included in the room rate.||All perfectly done...efficient, immaculate, welcoming, lovely staff and a beautiful view of the northern...
