Amazing place! Simply exceptional guesthouse with real heart and soul. The building has been beautifully renovated, and has stunning views of hills and pine forests all around. Service is outstanding; I defy anybody to order a Campari spritz from one of the garden deckchairs and not think you are gazing out at your own (temporary) bit of paradise. Breakfast is fabulous, healthy and tasty. The owners and their team looked after me brilliantly and helped with hike info, restaurant recommends, coffee, and special meals. What is truly remarkable is that so much of what you eat and drink comes direct from their vegetable and herb gardens (including yummy herbal teas) or eggs from the chickens. The whole area is amazing for exploring, you can hike direct from the house or drive to one of several nearby villages or wineries for breathtaking views of mountains and crumbling old buildings. On the last couple of evenings we sat out in the garden watching electrical storms roll in from the horizon. Thank you Bolara 60, I can't wait until...
Read moreI cannot express how happy I was with my stay at Anna and Matt's BEAUTIFUL property. I recommend this property for both solo and non-solo travel as well as foodies. I was traveling solo and being able to have a shared dinner (Anna is an amazing cook) with all of the other guests was delightful. The breakfast is insanely good as well. I think the only items which were not homemade were the honey, butter, milk and coffee. The breakfast is also a joint event with the other guests - seated on a long beautiful farm table. The granola (musli), yogurt, jams, and sourdough are all homemade. The eggs come from the chicken coop on the property. The house has such amazing detail and they really did a tip top job taking this 200-300 years old house from ruins to what it is today. With a rental car you can explore all the nearby hill top towns, or take a drive to the coast. I enjoyed a truffle hunt and tasting in Motovun, which was one of the...
Read moreWe love staying at Bolara 60 and have visited four times now, it’s made us fall in love with the Istrian region!
Anna and Matt are warm and inviting hosts whose exceptional eyes for detail have made Bolara 60’s renovated stone home extremely comfortable and charming (we love the little details like fresh flowers in all the rooms, the decor, and the comfy beds). The breakfasts and dinners are incomparable too, Anna is an innovative chef and the homegrown produce and fresh eggs take things over the top.
We love relaxing in the lounge chairs and enjoying a glass of wine or charcuterie board which can be purchased by request. The location is also great for exploring nearby cities, a couple of our favorites are Groznjan (cute artist town that’s just a half hour walk away or a quick drive) and Novigrad (a seaside town and 15 minute drive away).
A must stay experience if you’re...
