Old Mom's Lodge (Konak Stare Mame) — Hotel in Općina Lokve

Completely cut off from the tourist traps along the route 8 you’ll find a hidden treasure 25 mins drive from Rijeka in a small mountain village called Mrzla Vodica.

This magical place in the heart of the forest consists of three hand built wooden lodges. You are greeted with a warm smile from Franko who helped build the lodges and two wonderful dogs Lewis and Grace. Franko shows you to the proudly built lodges as a small tour which consists of the breakfast kitchen area fully equipped if you fancy doing some cooking. He continues his tour of the bathrooms and other lodges. Then lets you settle in. Dinner is available on pre reservations made when booking they require 24hours notice as the mother prepares wonderful traditional Croatian food. In addition you can also order breakfast where Franko coos a delicious ham and cheese pancake style dish. It’s incredibly delicious. He also prepares coffee tea and coffee there is also juices and bread with local jams, honey and spreads.

The lodge I had the pleasure of staying in has a log fire and warms the room very nicely there is plenty of space for you to relax and enjoy the moments away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist places it’s peaceful and incredibly quiet.
