Max Gastro Beach House — Hotel in Općina Marina

Our visit was unremarkable. The waiter initially provided only the English menu, despite my parents understanding Croatian far better than English. He then returned a second time to inquire about drinks, even though the menus displayed only food items. His communication was unclear, and when I began to order food from the menu, he stopped me, stating 'drinks only' while holding a pen and paper. Consequently, we proceeded to order drinks. He brought them after some time and then asked for food. The menu selections were quite limited, so I ordered chicken nuggets while my girlfriend and parents opted for spaghetti pomodoro. My girlfriend requested lemon water and received a glass with an entire lemon squeezed into it, rendering it undrinkable. We waited an unusually long time, especially considering the restaurant was empty (it was 2:00 PM). The spaghetti portions were inconsistent, and there was no Parmesan available, despite it being stated on the menu. At €14, the chicken nuggets were of a lower quality than those found at McDonald's. Additionally, a cat was observed walking on one of the tables. Furthermore, a family with two small children arrived, and a waiter sat at an adjacent table and began smoking. The restaurant is really great, the accommodation was not so great.

Hubby and I stayed at the accommodation for 1 night in early July. Unfortunately the room was not what we expected. We booked a room with mountain view, and ended up with a view of a building site. There was no duvet/sheet on the beds, so we had to ask for them. There was no hooks to hang any towels, there was no hot water or water pressure. Luckily it was so hot outside that we only had cold showers anyway.

The restaurant on the other hand, was great! We really enjoyed every moment. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Marco (I think that was his name) was amazing 👏 probably one of the best server experiences we've had while on our travels. He made sure our drinks were topped up, checked on our food, offered us extras and made great suggestions. Hubby had the fish with potato and chard - delicious. I had one of the pizza/flat breads which was heavenly! And the view was super special!

Would definitely recommend eating at this restaurant...

There were four us: me, my wife and our kids. We just arrived to Marina on 18.08.2025 and this place was the closest one where we could have a lunch after the trip. Our younger girl (10 years) ordered some food and bottle of Pepsi. The waiter brought beautiful glass filled with 1/3 of ice. When my kid poured around half of the bottle into the glass, the glass exploded right in front of her, scattering small glass pieces all over the table. It turned out the glass was hot, the ice and pepsi were cold. Damn physics did it’s job. The staff cleaned the glass pieces quite quickly, but didn’t offer any sort of compensation or apology. Not even free bottle of pepsi (half of the last one was spilled all over the place when glass exploded). Not leaving any tips and never coming to this place again. I’d rather walk another 15 mins to better restaurants in center of Marina. Other food was pretty average and filled a bit overpriced, compared to Povljana, when we spent...
