Boutique B&B Japodi — Hotel in Općina Mrkopalj

We booked our night at Agrotourism Japodi only 2 days before as our last stop on the way back up Croatia to Ljubljana. When driving from the main road towards Sunger, we didn't see any restaurants that were open; not surprising for a Sunday night! Although there were probably some in nearby Mrkopalj, we were greeted by Robert at the door with the offer of wild boar and venison stew for dinner. We couldn't say yes quick enough! ||Robert and Jagoda were such perfect hosts. We sat around the table with other guests who were staying, comparing notes on Croatia so far, enjoying the cosy atmosphere with the fire. There were a range of wines to choose from to go with dinner too. ||The room is spotlessly clean and again very warm and cosy whilst having lots of space for us to spread out. We slept so well! ||Breakfast is from 08:00. I like to eat a lot for breakfast so was pleasantly surprised by how much there was on offer! Cereal, yoghurt, plenty of fresh warm bread rolls, a selection of meats and cheese, eggs, oranges, croissants and jam. A choice of coffee or teas were on offer too. ||Jogoda gave us a recommendation of a quick walk up the hill as we didn't have long before we had to head on towards Ljubljana. Japodi is gorgeous boutique hotel offering relaxation at above 800 m above sea level, in beautiful Gorski Kotar village Sunger, which is ideally positioned - if you like seaside, you can be there in 40 min drive, but otherwise, it is for nature lovers who are looking for piece, fresh air, views on surrounding hills and mountains. It is ideal for explorers as well as those who enjoy privacy and beauty, but offering a dosage of comfort. Wooden house is beautifully designed and tastefully equipped, with a library and stone fire place. The house also has a sauna and jacuzzi. My room and the whole house was cleaned to perfection. Linen was changed after three nights. After a week spent with Jagoda, Robi and their dog Molly, I feel like we were long-time friends. Jagoda is an excellent chef and her desserts are amazing. We had the pleasure of staying at Agrotourism Japodi for three nights. We didn’t want to leave!||||Everything about Japodi is top-notch. A quiet natural setting, yet close to major destinations, delicious food, interesting and accommodating hosts.||We arrived on very short notice and were warmly welcomed. The included breakfast is delicious and provided substantial nourishment to enjoy hiking at nearby NP Risnjak. Japodi also offers dinner for an additional charge.
