We booked rooms at the Apartments Bellevue in April and paid £180 deposit - FOUR months before we were due to stay.||||We had several further email conversations with the managers at the apartments in the weeks just before we were due to arrive because our ferry was due in at 8.15 pm.||||We were assured that it was fine to check in up until 10 pm. We were also asked to call the manager's mobile from the ferry and they would arrange a taxi to pick us up.||||I called 3 times, twice from the ferry and again from the port when we arrived at 8.15 pm, but no one answered. Luckily we found a taxi at the ferry port anyway and travelled to the apartments. They were very hard to find and the taxi driver got very angry, not with us, but with the difficulty of finding the apartments. He eventually dropped us off and we ended up walking a long way uphill with our bags and three children. ||||The apartments were very difficult to find in the dark and not signposted at all or marked. When we arrived, we could not find the reception for ages. Finally some other guests pointed the way.||||We went down the stairs to the basement of the building where the lady who described herself as the cleaner and manager lived. She did not answer the door for ages. When she finally opened the door, she looked harassed and unfriendly.||||When we showed her the print out of our booking she just said: "Impossible!"||||To cut a long story short, we waited outside until nearly 1 am. Two of our children had fallen asleep, one curled up on a mat on the pavement. Eventually she managed to find rooms for us at a hotel in another town. She handed a fraction of our deposit to this hotel, which was nowhere near enough to pay for just one night at the hotel.||||With very bad grace, she returned the next day with the rest of our deposit, but refused to pay enough to cover the cost of the hotel for us even for one night.||||We could not even leave a review on Booking.com as by then she had "cancelled our booking".||||So beware of Booking.com and stay away from these apartments.||||The up side is that the hotel we then stayed in - although much more expensive - was truly wonderful - the Hotel Villa Adriatica - stay...
Read moreBe very careful that you do not get allocated the ground floor apartment-it was so terrible we had to leave and find alternative accomodation for our weeks stay. Not easy in the height of Summer!!! Luckily for us the town had a fantastic young lady in the tourist board , who couldn t have been more helpful. Certainly not 4, 2 at most. Looked nothing like the photos on line, discarded equipment and general untidiness under the stairwell by our door, in 3 rooms wires with light bulbs hung from the ceiling. We requested and had confirmed back from the owner that we had a double bed, but when arrived had 2 singles in small room with a wardrobe, nothing else. No nice covers or bedspreads. Our balcony did have a view, once you had looked through the cars parked right outside! Dogs barking and half built buildings surrounded us. Awful is all I can say. The owners worker was very nice, the owner was no where to be seen, what a surprise. Needless to say we DID NOT pay anything and advised booking .com the...
