I have a very mixed feelings about this campsite. It has a good location, very close to the sea, it's overall presence is quite nice but, like other people wrote, it looks like it's not maintained properly. Additionaly, many of the pitches are not suitable for tents - no flat ground or at least gravel but bigger stones and, despite the fact that sanitary complex looks quite new and clean, there is a perciptible stink near it.
But the biggest problem with this campsite is it's OUTRAGEOUS CHARGING POLICY. First of all - they charge you 50EUR for the reservation itself. And no, it's not the down payment, it's not subtracted from your final invoice. It adds to all the other expenses. Second - they do not guarantee the pitch you reserve, so you can get there and be informed that they gave your pitch to someone else. Third - if you want to have pitch guaranteed, you have to pay ADDITIONAL 50EUR. And yes, it's also added to your final invoice. So, what's absolutely for free in many other campsites, here will cost you 100EUR.
I’ve been to numerous campsites in Croatia, Slovenia and Italy and never ever have seen anything like this. Becouse of that, and the fact that there are many similar or best campsites in Croatia, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this one.
Also, beware of a pool that is within the campsite. It’s open till 10pm and you can expect all the screaming, lound laughing till the last minute. If you want a bit of relax in the evening, dont book a pitch anywhere...
Read moreCamping Ugljan is a relatively small campsite with about 55 spacious pitches and 27 holiday homes. During our stay, the campers came from Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, the United Kingdom, and Croatia, and the family compositions were very diverse. There's no entertainment, but there are plenty of children who seem to be having a great time. Each pitch has electricity and a drinking water connection. The pitches are, however, full of pebbles, and rock pegs are required. The sanitary facilities are centrally located on the campsite and were cleaned 2 or 3 times daily. There is a swimming pool, but it is relatively small and not suitable for swimming laps. The deepest point is 160cm. There is also a small campsite shop with a limited selection. Some products are quite expensive, while others are not. (Magnum ice cream €4 / potatoes €1.40 per kg). Just outside the campsite is a beautiful pebble beach with a beach bar. Due to the pebbles on the beach and some sea urchins, water shoes are recommended. The water is very clear and the underwater life is clearly visible (yellow coral and various fish).
We stayed here for the weekend of 1st May, and we loved it. Everything is brand new and working. Very clean and accessible. Although outside was not hot even for early May, we didn't have to turn on the heater in the mobile home. I suppose the insulation is very good.
There's a restaurant / beach bar right next to the camp, positioned on a gorgeous beach! It was working in spite of the "off-season" and "global pandemic" which many coastal restaurants used as an excuse to not work.
Speaking of restaurants and food preparation, we were staying in a studio mobile home for 2. And although the kitchen was "small, about 2m" it was very functional and it had all the utensils. And then eating on the deck was very romantic. There was a big grill we could have used.
In conclusion, nice thing about pre-season is that it is very quiet, and the camp is not full and it is cheaper. If you catch a nice day you can still go hiking and if you are brave enough, try the sea. Kids can go in the small pool anyway.
I wish there was a big place where I can shoot some pool or play darts, but I am geek so my laptop was sufficient because the wifi was super fast (67 mbps download 48 mbps upload)...
