My partner and I stayed here for a week in July 2023, in the newer side of the hotel. The room was nice and spacious and very clean. The windows were relative soundproof, although there were times when we could still hear the clock tower! The only downside to the room was the automatic light on the front of the wardrobe mirror by the bathroom door. It meant that the light kept going off while trying to get ready in front of the mirror, but also that if either of us went to the toilet in the middle of the night, the light came on and lit up most of the room! The breakfast at the hotel was really nice and they had a wide selection of cooked and fresh food. The lady who cooked the eggs in the morning (didn't get her name) was excellent and made good omelettes and scrambled eggs. The staff were very nice and friendly, especially the cleaners and the lady on night reception - she was excellent! Unfortunately the day before we arrived, another customer had disagreed with the bar bill they had received. Subsequently the bar/restaurant at the pool would not let you charge to the room and only accepted cash. When we discussed this with the hotel, they were unwilling to compromise by letting us charge food to the room and pay for drinks in cash. This meant that we ventured out the hotel much more frequently than we would have. Not a problem for us, but a loss for the hotel. Everything else was great except for the last day, when after checkout we stored our luggage and went to use the pool for a couple of hours. We were then informed that because we were no longer 'guests of the hotel' we could not use the facilities any longer and we would have to pay to continue to stay by the pool. This was disappointing as we had really enjoyed our time until that point. One of the bar staff did try to rectify this by speaking to management, but after witnessing the same conversation with several other guests the atmosphere around the pool was not great, so we decided to leave a little earlier than planned. Overall a good hotel, and some simple changes could make...
Read moreI had a great experience at Hotel Borovnik! The location is incredibly convenient — right off the bridge and close to everything: local taxis, ATMs, shops, restaurants, and even an ice cream shop next door.
What truly stood out was the staff. They were warm, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. I arrived around noon, well before the usual 3–4 PM check-in time, and they welcomed me without hesitation. No hassle, no extra fees. When I mentioned I was waiting for my boyfriend, they noticed our room was a single and quickly upgraded us to a double — and found a new room for us in just 15 minutes. That kind of service is rare and genuinely appreciated.
The property itself is secure and well-maintained. At night, a code is required to enter, which made us feel safe. We stayed on the first floor (second level), and our room was spacious by Eastern European standards. The bed was large and comfortable, even though it was two twin beds pushed together — which is common in the region.
The on-site amenities were great. The pool was clean, spacious, and a nice bonus during our stay.
Our main issue was the air conditioner, which wasn’t working in our room. While we typically don’t rely on A/C, it can get very hot in this area, especially at night. We had to keep the windows wide open, which made the early mornings a bit challenging — especially at 6 AM, when the town bell rings loudly and for quite a while. It was hard to sleep through, and definitely woke us up every morning.
Luckily, we spent most of our days out and about, so it didn’t impact us too much. But I would definitely book a room with working air conditioning if visiting during warmer months.
Outside of that, everything else was excellent. I especially appreciated the helpful, proactive staff. I’d absolutely recommend Hotel Borovnik and would stay again — just with a functioning A/C...
Read moreOverall we had such an amazing experience from the minute we checked in until the minute we left. The staff are so amazing and helpful and the majority of them are so friendly - all have amazing English. The food was nice but we found that the only downfall on this side was the breakfast . We found it very repetitive and there wasn’t many options. The lunch and dinner menus were nice , the food was amazing but it was very expensive. Drinks were standard price. There was a pool with loads of seating options both in the shade and out in the sun. The service around the pool area was amazing. There was a few other food options around the hotel and some lovely places to grab a coffee or an icecream . We went as a group of 4 for a festival on the Garden Resort . Taxis are not expensive we USE UBER to save yourself being scammed. The bridge across from the hotel goes up twice a day so just be careful of that when planning trips because there will be a slight delay. The rooms were always clean and the air conditioning was amazing and kept the room nice and cold throughout the day . You can get pool towels at reception for €20 but you do get this back when you return the towels . Overall we had such a great time and we will defintley be back again in...
