I will have a long more detailed review on TripAdvisor but this is a condensed version, This is not a 5 star resort, there is no 5 star in Cuba, so dont go in expecting that and you'll be fine. The people at this resort are AMAZING!! And they make the trip one to remember and make you want to come back, we have been to Jamaica 5 times and Mexico once to 3 and 5 star resorts and thought we would give Cuba a try even though everyone says the food sucks and you get sick, so the food doesnt suck, you do not go hungry, the food is bit repetitive every night(we stayed 2 weeks) but there is a huge variety to choose from and they do change it up a bit here and there but we never got bored or ever felt hungry. They work there buts off making sure you are happy. For lunch there is also the beach bar/buffet, and the pool bar/buffet they both have salads, hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and fish and other varieties of food that change daily. at every buffet there is always fresh buns and there delicious. Theres always cold draft beer, when they have Mint the mojitos are delicious, and the typical Miami vice, banana mama, strawberry daquiri , pina colada, rum punch, and iberostar are good drinks. The beach is beautiful, there is always a beach chair and almost always a palapa available at any time of the day, there is sand flies/no see ums (we where there in May) bug spray/repellent is a must, I also tried the vit B trick before we left and I think it worked I brought the vitamins but didnt take them while there and I didnt get 1 bite the first week and got eaten alive the second. My own fault. For the pool if you want an umbrella there isnt many so you have to get up early to save one. The entertainment staff. These guys are the best of the best. We absolutely fell in love such good people and the dancers at the evening shows are SO TALENTED this group of employees make this resort. Theres volleyball a few times a day and bocce ball and various other fun games, they do a foam party once a week on the beach one during the day and one in the evening around 9pm very fun! Again..entertainment staff 10 out of 5 stars, bartenders, cooks, garden crew, beach rakers, the guy that gets your chairs ready for you in the morning on the beach(he loves an espresso with 2 sugar)maids, front desk so many different jobs and they all are working so hard to make everything perfect for you, so friendly and go out of there way to say good morning SUCH GOOD STAFF. The rooms, they are rooms. The bed is alright, the pillows are alright, we checked in and had 2 doubles and when I went back to the front desk and had said we requested a king they said they could move me in 2 days, I was fine with that, we had also requested to be right next to our kids but ended up on opposite floors, so when they gave us the king room we where moved 2 rooms away from the kids good enough! The rooms are definitely showing age and a little worn out but the maids keep them very clean and it's literally a place to sleep and shower it's not a 5 star bed but we slept perfectly fine, sometimes the water wasnt hot which some people complained about but it was never cold always warm or hot its 30+ outside it's not like you need a hot shower. Our fridge had a fresh bottle of water every second day and sometimes a can of cola. We never got beer until the last few days I left the maid some gifts and a note and asked to have 2 cervesas and she left 2 in the fridge, not sure why we didnt get them the whole trip but there was always a bar open anyway. We where on the main floor so I'm assuming this is why we had a couple of cockroach's in our room, this was almost a deal breaker for me lol I hate them! We had brought an aerosol can of bug spray and started spraying the crack under the door every day after the maid came and we also brought drain covers from home depot so we kept them covered at all times (unless in use of course) and this remedied the problem. I still think I would request not to have main floor for our next visit, nice to have the balcony to hang your towels and better views

Beach 5/5 Food 3.9/5 Beverages 3/5 Staff 4.8/5 Room 3.8/5 Lobby 4.5/5 Pool 4.5/5 Entertainment 4.5/5 BEACH: The beach makes up for everything and anything that you could feel that could be lacking in this resort. You will NOT complain as soon as you hit that beach; it's clean and stunning. FOOD & BEVERAGE: Breakfast was the best part. They served French toast and crepes, omelettes, fresh donuts cheese, etc. Please make sure you tip them even if it's at least $2 CDN or $1 USD (just please keep inflation in mind). The cooks really try to ensure you leave happy and pleased. They're trying their best with what they have despite the country's shortages of supplies. If you ever want your meats well done, make sure you know how to say “well done" in Spanish so you can inform the chef (especially by the snack bar, as he gave us undercooked burgers). Drinks: They don't serve mojitos really as there is no mint (a shortage of mint, I suppose). I just stuck to the regular cervezas and that sufficed. STAFF: The staff are very friendly and helpful when you need assistance for anything. Each time we asked for our WiFi to be replenished (after 10 hrs of use, you have to go back to the front desk and ask for more time), assistance with the bus schedule that takes you into town, etc. For tips, you can buy stuff at the dollar store, like toiletries and essentials (menstrual pads for the females, cotton, alcohol, cotton rounds, lotion, aloe gel, SPF, paper towels, toilet paper, foil, parchment paper, baking trays, cups, plastic cups, fluoride free toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, nail polish, hair ties, fresh new socks, umbrellas, reusable plates, knives, forks, etc. Basically the dollar store we have, would be a privilege for them - let's put it that way. What we take for granted daily - they don't easily have access to. Even for the Cuban kids, crayons, colouring books, puzzles, books, educational toys, baby bottles, etc. would be much appreciated. You can do this as an alternative to tipping if you plan to not bring much cash on you. LOBBY: Probably one of the best hotel lobby's in Cayo Coco because I looked in each lobby when I was on the double decker bus and it stopped off at almost every hotel. Only feedback I have is because the seats are white, please wipe down the seats maybe every 3-4 hours and wipe down the tables every 2 hours. Don't forget to get some fresh churros from the lobby after 8pm-9:15pm. Sometimes, she might not be there, but ask the front desk. Those churros are made fresh in right in front of you and are absolutely delicious. Feel free to tip her. POOL: The pool is nice and is kept neatly cleaned. It's also conveniently located by the snack bar. If you have kids, bring a flutter board, a noodle or a life jacket for them so they get the full experience. ENTERTAINMENT: Daytime entertainment was great. Bingo was played and the fitness staff did other fun activities. As for the nightly shows - it consists of multiple beautiful costume changes and dance routines/sets. It can get a bit repetitive since there is no dialogue for the night shows. However, keep in mind the performers are top dancers, who dance their best every night, come with high energy and smiles. Don't forget to tip them before you leave the show even if it's at least a couple of dollars.

Have been to this resort two years in a row with my mom and will likely come back next year. Why? Two main reasons. One - the staff is absolutely amazing, extremely friendly and accommodating. Some of the employees even remembered us from last year and went out of their way to welcome us. I really cannot express it enough how much they enhance our visit. Two - you also can't beat the location - the resort is the first stop from the airport so it's the shortest ride and it's literally on the beach. We would spend mornings by the pool, then the afternoon by the beach (and don't worry, there's a little bar on the beach too). If it's your first time going to Cuba, it's important to keep in mind that the country was hit extremely hard by the pandemic and sometimes there are product and food shortages. You wont go hungry by any means, you just gotta role with it (ie there might not be sugar one day or ketchup another). My mom and I aren't picky and we quite enjoyed the food, especially the chicken, pork, rice and beans and soups (with it being even better this year). The linens are also a bit dated/worn and need to be replaced but they do the job. If it bothers you if there is a stain on your sheets, just bring your own. There is also a restaurant right beside the resort that had substantial lobster tail and chicken dishes. Worth a visit! And of course I can't forget to mention Roxi - she runs the churro stand that comes out some evenings. She's so sweet and her churros are delicious! We had them every night she was here. While tipping is common, because of the food and product shortages, the staff also really appreciate any gifts you give (especially personal hygiene products, over the counter medication and contraceptives - ive included a list at the end of this comment if you're interested) because even with money from their wages or tips, there is nothing on the shelves for them to buy. Both Canadian and American money is accepted for tips, though you might be approached to swap CAD coins for bills since that's what the banks accept. Oh and if you want to do excursions, talk to the lifeguards. They offer a couple of the ones that the travel agencies offer but for a lower price. They are also the ones to talk to if you want to go to the restaurant I mentioned above (it's reservation only). All tip/gifts to give are appreciated but we were specifically told that bars of soap, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, condoms, advil/Tylenol, chocolate or candy, cooking oil, flour and general medical supplies like Band-Aids, gauze, gloves etc are really appreciated. All in all, a great place to visit and would highly recommend!

We just got back from our wonderful family trip in Cayo Guillermo Iberostar Daiquiri!

We thought our food selection would be limited this week, but it was the complete opposite! We were allowed to go to 2 specialty restos during our week trip, so we got familiar with the buffet. In the morning there were two egg stations and I enjoyed fresh omelletes, a variety of fresh breads, fruits (pineapple, banana and papaya), bacon, sausages and cold cuts and cheeses (very pleased). Nice rice dishes were present for lunch, pasta stations, and a variety of proteins were always present (chicken, pork, beef, fish). In addition to all the above, there were some dinners where they served smoked salmon, fajita stations, and a large roast beef or turkey. They had a nice display of deserts and a donut station. My favourite part was the pig roasts, which were both delicious and festive. This does not occur often! It happened at noon on the Thursday we arrived and we were lucky to be present for our second roast on the Thursday we were departing (a week later)! They really put a lot of effort into it. They had a sangria station, coconut station, live music, game station. The pig was cut and served in front of us and served with a delicious soup and cake. It was a wonderful Cuban experience! I digress…

We enjoyed the pool and the beach, playing chess, playing tennis (bring your own rackets and balls if you are planning to play a few times), but the kind Gym Supervisor let us borrow his gear for one hour.

Drinks were good and I recommend you bring your “Yeti” or “Buba” as they have small cups. Leo at the lobby bar was very kind (all of them were). Love their capuccinos and their sugar cane stirrers (not always present but get one when you can).

The beach is gorgeous with white sand and clear turquoise water. However, having been to Santa Maria a few times, it was not the best beach relatively speaking. Take a 10 minute convertible to Pilar beach (practically down the street) and you can really swim there and enjoy a high-end beach!

The kids passed out early and we made it to one show at the theater: Michael Jackson. Having seen MJ shows all over different all-inclusives, it was really good!👌I am unsure what the night life was like, as we were in bed by 10 pm every night.

There are paddle boats, and catamarans included to rent for 30-60 mins. We really enjoyed doing that. We paid extra to be brought out further for snorkeling. Bring some extra bread we were told! And yes the fish went crazy and ate out of our hands.

As for the rooms, we were in a family adjoining room, which is located above the lobby. It was too noisy! I spoke with Gerardo at reception, who kindly found us a side-by-side in a building over looking the ocean and far away from the noise. He took good care of us, along with all the staff at reception, guest services (who kindly brought back our forgotten towels and sandals at the pool), and Gustavo, a kind guest service attendant.

Grounds were kept clean, garbage actively removed during the day. I was happy with our rooms. They cleaned very well every day and replenished items in the room. They definitely are environmentally conscientious with paper cups and straws and solar water heaters on the roofs.

Wifi is free, but you have to enter a code eveytime you login and replenish when you have used it up. I was happy to have the family reduce their screen time, but this can be a nuisance.

**Tip💵: do not exchange your Canadian dollars to Cuban pesos! I suggest bringing $US as they value it more than $CDN currency.

Staff are very kind and we had a great experience! It is important to go in with an open mind. We had a great week but fellow vacationers who we met at the airport stated that their hotels ran out of chicken, eggs and cola. That is what I expected going there. Proper expectations is key. They try very hard and work with what they have🙌. More importantly, we felt very safe on and off the resort.

We are very happy with our vacation! The kids really enjoyed their first all-inclusive. We...

I went to Iberostar Daiquiri for an all-inclusive package with Sunwing. I went the first week of May, and loved it. Spoiler alert: the only thing I didn’t LOVE was the food.

Resort Facilities and Amenities:

Accommodation: Me and my two cousins took a beach facing room and it was beautiful. The beds were very comfortable and they had everything we needed. Some of the sheets were a bit stained but that’s all. The AC is strong and you cannot control the temperature, it’s either on or off. But there were extra blankets in the room so it was no issue. The bathroom was spacious, clean and modern. I have nothing bad to say about the rooms!

I’m also very grateful for the 24hr medical centre and also grateful for the amazing nurse and doctor that were there. My cousin ended up getting an infection and needed treatment, they were so kind, gentle and made sure to let us know that their door was always open and to come back or call anytime. They were amazing.

Workers: Most of the workers were amazing and very sweet and nice. The only thing I must mention, is that one of the guys at reception asked me out one day and after I respectfully declined, he cut off our internet. My cousin asked him to reset it many times and he kept refusing saying there was an issue with the wifi (but people still had access to it and there was no issue). The same man kept denying to give us wifi, and then at one point someone replaced him for a second, and when we asked the lady to turn on our internet, she did it right away. The fact that the male worker used his “power” to punish me for rejecting him is absolutely disgusting. But like I said, it was just 1 worker - all of the others were amazing.

Dining Options: Breakfast: The breakfast buffet is delicious and my favourite meal of the day. They have a smoothie bar, 2 egg/omelet bars, a French toast and crepe bar, as well as their usual fruit, cheese, eggs, pastries and juice. I loved breakfast.

Lunch/Dinner: Honestly, not the tastiest food but everything was local and fresh. I must say they had a wide variety and a lot in terms of quantity. They always had a chicken and meat grill, a fish grill, a pasta grill, and they occasionally had a fried rice bar. On top of those, they always had bread, rice, fruit, cheese, and much more available. They also had great deserts and DELICIOUS ice cream. They had more than enough food to accommodate us. I wish I brought some more ready-meals for the nights where I felt fed up with buffet food, something like bowls of instant noodles would’ve been perfect.

Recreational Activities: We also took a SeaTour Catamaran and I always recommend it! I also recommend waiting until you arrive to book your excursions because we had MANY more options (about 10 different excursions) with our representative, vs having 2 options on the nexus/sunwing website.

Entertainment: The entertainment was crazy good. A big shoutout the the dancers and the entertainers that were present. Everyday, they do about 2 activities/fun competitions both on the beach and next to the pool. Other than that, they had AMAZING dancers doing a 40-minute show every single night. It was really worth it and highly recommend going. The dancers also sometimes come do small shows next to the pool. On top of that, every night there was a singer singing in the lobby, very nice and very beautiful. All in all, the entertainment was amazing.

Pool and Beach Areas: I loved the pools, and loved that 1 of the pools was more an entertainment pool while the other was more relaxed. The only thing I would change is forbidding people from reserving seats for hours. I feel like this is so unfair and whatever the resort itself can do would be much appreciated.

The beach was AMAZING! There was a bit of algue but it was so beautiful. Lots of seats and 2 walkways that were perfect for the sunrise and sunset.

I recommend bringing some pre-made meals in case you get tired of the buffet, and bringing powdered coffee, hot chocolate, etc.

I would return in...
