Merit Royal Gardens Hotel & Casino — Hotel in İskele Belediyesi

I travelled here with my wife and two children from 29th May until the 9th June 2023 with Cyprus Paradise. We flew into Larnaka. Five hours flight. We were collected by a Turkish firm called Cyprobus using a seven seater Mercedes Vito. Swiftly transferred to the North in over an hour.

Upon arrival the staff at Cyprus Gardens told me and a tired family that there was no room at the Inn. After half an hour they finally found our booking phew . Terrible communication skills from staff and the venue is not very well organised.

The staff at this place are generally not very attentive, for example, the waiters and waitresses would rather attend to the Turkish speaking main landers as they are able to converse with them ,this then leads to other nationalities having to get their own drinks from the bar.

The rooms are decent ish, but as is typical with North Cyprus, they are not maintained very well. Our room front door number fell off on the first day, and the back door wouldn't lock properly. The handle was on its last legs. The step down into the garden was falling apart. The gardens were unkempt,the sprinklers would go off and soak our drying clothes at odd hours of the day.

A lot of older men, particularly those frequenting the casino, are often seen around the pool with younger women, a lot of open immoral activities are afoot here.

The waiters were rude and making smarmy remarks in Turkish, not realising I spoke the lingo ,I had to confront them on two occasions about this behaviour.

I love dogs. If you don't like dogs don't go to this holiday village. There are dogs everywhere,at the restaurant ,under your table in your garden. They are very friendly but very hungry. The hotel scares them away to please certain guests ,there appears to be no infrastructure to look after the animals.

Look out for one of the managers who walks around pretending to be on his phone appearing to be doing something about the dog Infestation,something of a Turkish Basyl Fawlty who you can't miss.

On our last day, we had a night flight returning from Larnaca .The hotel gave us a whole 2 hours for late check out and charged us £70.00 for our dinners. Customer services 0/10. They are the stingiest people I have ever known. Drinks are bad quality.

Now for the positives Food amazing buffet mix of Turkish and continental. Beech is beautiful Moonlight bar amazing to sit at night with a cocktail. Nice pool Beautiful plants and flowers Dogs were super friendly.

Would I go again ? No A generous 4/10 NORTH CYPRUS I LOVE YOU BUT YOU HAVE A LOT TO IMPROVE UPON. DON'T THINK I'LL SEE YOU FOR ANOTHER TEN YEARS. BE NICE TO TOURISTS AND DONT...

Great place to take a day trip or a stay. This is my fourth time to take a day trip. Usually, I'll take day pass with open buffet lunch which starts at 1 p.m. and variety of food during the day served around the pool and by the beach until 6p.m. Beautiful beach and landscaping is just amazing. Bungalows are surrounded with variety of plants, trees and flowers. As soon as you enter to the property you feel the plush green and beautiful smell of the flowers.

The pool is in the middle of the Hotel. Which also surrounded by trees. They even have a hammock next to the pool. Small wading pool is attached to the main pool. There is also a bar where you can get different types of drinks (alcohol) all day long. Alcohol and soft drinks are all included in to the bill.

Due to the currency fluctuations this year prices doubled compared to the previous year (200 TL approximately $35) per person. Service is also great and fast. Employees are courteous, friendly...

Hotel is indeed among gardens and greenery. Trees and flowers are well maintained, and gives a lot of shadows during the hot day. Rooms and common areas are clean! The whole staff was always helpful and friendly, speak a decent English if needed. :) I enjoyed the whole holidays a lot even though it was couple disadvantages. Unfortunately, an extra bed in our room was super small, child size. I am 170cm high and it was not a big problem to me but nights were not too comfortable cause I had too long legs to sleep well. For this money and four starts hotel should organize some proper and normal size bed, not an old and dusty sofa. In the main restaurant someone decided to play three songs on repeat, it is extremely annoying. Probably management want guests to leave faster which is not nice and must be a horror to poor staff which must listen to this...
