“2 months stay at Thalassa”|When we arrived at Thalassa beach resort we had an easy check in, staff took us straight to our apartment. We own the apartment at this resort so this review is solely based on staff and amenities.||There is a shop that sells any essentials you may need. The ladies that work in the shop are amazing, I needed a hair brush and the lady went all the way to town to get me one the next day and gave it to me free of charge. There is a supermarket to get all you need called “senmar” which is a 13 minute drive (taxi can be called at security office, this costs 400TL this is for there and back, they also wait for you to finish your shop) ||There is a gym at the resort and you can acquire a card for just £25 as a one off payment as a non member. As a member you can acquire a card for just £15 as a one off payment. You can keep these cards forever. There is one staff member in the gym at all times to support you when needed. She made me feel uncomfortable at times due to being unprofessional with many males in the studio, but other than this the gym is great. ||Room service was very disappointing we was charged £5 for this service. Our food was cold and when i shared my issue with the manager he had told me that is the service and he could not help me. I felt very upset as I spent a vast amount on room service for food to be inedible. I do not reccomend. ||If you love chicken shops there is a “best star chicken” 8 minutes away and the food is insane you can google their WhatsApp number and they will deliver for just £1. The service is great.||The restaurant staff are amazing. They go above and beyond (minus one staff member that was quite inappropriate towards me, which management addressed and sorted the situation) the food was not great, a lot of food that the restaurant serve is not on the menu and a lot of the food was a catfish, we didn’t receive the true meal for example the first night we arrived we ordered the “Turkish Meze” this consisted of cold hard and stale bread with different coloured coleslaw and hummus. We ordered x2 Meze’s and only received one portion of the bread, when asked for another portion of bread they had said they have run out and gave us normal slices of bread instead. They also seemed to run out of a lot of ingredients which I think is normal with restaurants on resorts but to not tell the customers before ordering or even knowing until order has been sent to the chef wasn’t very reliable. On the other hand the cocktails was great at only £5 each. Also karaoke nights and event nights are alot of fun.||The beach and the view of the sunset that hits is beautiful. The resort is super clean and very colorful. The apartments are also very beautiful and clean. I would recommend this resort 100%. I would just recommend you do not eat at...
Read moreThis place has some good points but overall it was not a great stay for us. ||The good points were the cleanliness of the resort, the well maintained gardens and the fantastic pool. Our 11 year liked the three water slides and the indoor pool and steam room /jacuzzi were again very clean and modern. ||The negatives- the location. Please do not arrive at this resort without a car. We stayed for a week and felt absolutely isolated- even with a car! It is in the back of beyond and the area surrounding the resort is dirty, full of rubbish and stray, feral dogs. |To get there you drive past 3 huge 5 star resorts with their car parks and workers and rubbish, then a very strong smelling sewage works and then at the end of that road you get to the resort. It’s not a great journey. ||And it’s miles from anywhere, no restaurants, no shops or supermarkets. ||The restaurant on the resort wasn’t great, quite pricey by northern Cyprus prices and the staff were confused and slow with the service. |We ordered a pasta which was simply awful, asked for some Parmesan cheese to sprinkle on it just to make it more edible and were charged for the cheese at the end. |We didn’t use the restaurant after this. ||The apartments (which were actually nice, fully equipped and modern) are all packed into four, huge, nasty looking concrete blocks. They aren’t pretty at all! I wouldn’t let my teenager walk around at night, they had a real high-rise feel to them. |There is a very dodgy looking campsite a short distance away and I’d hate to think who was hanging around the resort after dark. ||We paid extra for a roof top terrace with hot tub which we found out was not a hot tub, it is just a tub with jets, no heat at all. So we didn’t use it - we actually didn’t use the terrace at all. ||The beach has been combed and it looks nice enough but there were no cushions on the plastic Sunbeds which was actually quite uncomfortable. The beach bar on the pier was not open. ||The one supermarket is tiny. You will need to go to a proper supermarket which is quite a drive away. ||I didn’t see any yoga, Pilates, classes or sports of any kind happening - I may have missed them but none of the entertainment programme appeared to be on when we were there over half term. ||All in all a disappointing stay. Maybe a couple of days would have been fine but after one week we were all absolutely ready...
Read moreWe stayed here for 10 days and had to change rooms. It is worthwhile knowing that several parts of the complex are still being built or refurbished. Causing noise in your rooms (starting at 7.30am) and on the beach, where a new gym/restaurant is currently being built.
The location itself is in Bafra. Great if you want to stay a lot on the resort, but quite a track by car if you want to explore the island.
We booked this expecting a fully serviced apart-hotel via booking.com to find that although our contract stated 10 cleans, Management refused to honour this agreement and we had no cleans of our apartment. We had limited cleaning equipment and no change of sheets which made us worry about hygiene in such a hot country.
The apartments are largely privately owned with thalassa renting these out, so it is impossible to know what kind of quality of apartment you are going to receive until you arrive. For example, it states all apartments have a microwave, but our apartment did not. Equally you may end up with only a sofa bed.
Management then had to stop a party on the rooftop, as 3 residents complained, to be made promises around actions that clearly were not upheld.
The resort currently has no: 24h service desk. The management company works around 10-5 everyday. Outside this you can only speak to security. There is currently no gym. The restaurant is really very basic and food lacks imagination. The burgers do not even have sauce in them and the food offering is quite plain. We chose to eat outside the resort which takes a bit of a drive (e.g. Iskele is around 20 min by car). The spa is very good and we enjoyed a number of treatments. The indoor and outdoor pool are also a real treat.
All in all we felt that the resort wasn't adequately advertised online. The resort is still a construction site and you can't fully escape the noise anywhere. We liked that the resort is friendly, people generally well behaved (apart from a couple of parties) and well looked after but also think major improvements are necessary. Unfortunately we spoke to management who are not all very approachable/reliable in getting back...
