Oscar Park is located on a main road with no shops, bars or restaraunts in site and would need to hire taxi every time you want to go out. We are a young couple in our 20’s who asked our travel agent to find us a hotel which is on a strip and close to pretty much the town.she sold us this hotel as a 4star hotel which is a total lie as it is a 2 star. Magusa is about 10 mins by car and Iskele about 15-20 mins by car.
The rooms here look loveley and have two aircons located in the room which came in handy. Rooms are always cleaned to a T. If your someone who loves a cup of tea or coffee in the morning be prepared to put on some clothes and go down to their restaraunt as there is no kettles in the rooms.
Service was a 5/10 in my opinion, on our first arrival around 10am we was told we cannot check in until 2pm and coming off the plane starving we weren’t allowed to eat breakfast unless we paid for it.... The breakfast bar is tiny, hot food was always luke warm, found a hair in my beans, requested a fried egg and was charged for it! Good service known by fellows in the UK would of said it’s on the house but nope we was charged for it. There is no lifts in the hotel and taking heavy luggage to your room is a struggle, literally had to ask someone to help take our luggage to our room and checking out we took 2 suitcases and 2 hand luggage down to the lobby all by ourselves from the 2nd floor! Oh and they never turn the air con on in their lobby, literally a sweat box in there
The pool side is nice and tidy and very quiet. Great if you are looking for a holiday just to have peice and quiet , this is definitely not a hotel for...
Read moreOfficially this is a 3 star hotel, described as luxury, but it most certainly is not. First impression when I went to my room was not impressive, a gouge, about 30 x 5cm, out of the wooden door facing. Decor in the room was drab, lighting was dim, the carpet was so well worn that the pattern had disappeared in places. Apparently the hotel was built in 2016, if I had been told 1986 I would have been more inclined to believe it. Why, in this day and age, when almost all hotels have card entry systems to enter the room, does this have the old fashioned key, smaller than a normal Yale. The key is attached to the card which you have to insert to activate lighting, you enter the room in the dark, have to fumble about to find the keyhole, but cannot switch on a light! There was plenty of hanging and shelf space, and a free safe, all in dated looking brown, I assume that other rooms had similar decor, but does nothing to make the accomodation inviting. However, the bed was comfortable.|Food choices were almost non existent, one main meal at dinner, a reasonable supply of salad ingredients, but on two of the three nights I was there there was only one desert.|The "Irish Bar"is narrow, and small, with oversized furniture which limits the capacity. |There is a nice looking pool, but as we were out all day I never used it, but it would probably have been too cold anyway.|Having stayed in many 3 star hotels which are so much better than this, I cannot rate it better...
Read moreThe great minus of this hotel is its location. It is situated about 5 km from Famagusta and sits right next to a four-lane road with a lot of traffic well into the night. So light sleepers need to wear ear plugs. To balance this out somewhat there is a good-sized pool with fine cool water. However, the deckchairs are not so well looked after.|The room was big enough with a separate sitting room and TV and a balcony. However, the carpet is critical and there was only one bedside table and only one lamp. The bathroom was clean and generally OK, but water was leaking into the bathroom from under the shower tub.|Breakfast and dinner were average at best with no highlights whatsoever. The butter at breakfast was rancid on all three mornings. Starters were best, variation of main dishes was very limited, for desert there was custard on three consecutive days with only the colour changed. Generally, the quality of the ingredients was basic to low and the atmosphere was more like a cafeteria than a proper restaurant. However, service staff were doing their best and were friendly and helpful. |On settling the bill the exchange rate used was not in favour of the guests. |We were there with a group, but would certainly not have chosen it if we had arranged the...
