We stayed in neighbouring Mikolov for 3 days and rode to Valtice for lunch at Markos. The food was delicious as was the wine. The Resturant was complete with cellar containing local wines and a variety of rums. The aesthetics of the building were beautiful and loosely based on a Tuscan theme ( we were advised). The property were undergoing significant renovations to include a spa/wellness centre, which once complete could make this place a wonderful getaway. The town itself while small is gorgeous and combined with bike-riding tracks makes a great alternative to the bigger cities (which is what attracted us). The surrounding towns are accessible via car (reasonably priced car hire in the Czech, or riding is possible- although in some places we had to ride on the road for short periods of time....

This hotel is tucked away from the main tourists' path. It was nicely renovated in 2018, and parts of it are still under construction. It has an indoor small pool, and in the future also a spa. The rooms are nice and pleasant, as is the staff.|| However, our room had no dark curtains, and the existing curtains let in so much light that sleeping after sunrise was impossible. Thee restaurant menu was rather limited, and the food quality was average. The breakfast was more modest than what we found in many other European hotels. || This is bicycle-riding country, and for an overnight stop on a bike tour it is fine, but for a longer stay we shall...
