We decided to stay at Olberg Hotel as it was reasonably priced and the website portrayed the Hotel as having high standards and good cuisine, along with a wellness spa.||We were due to check in on at 1400 on Sunday 30th July, but due to a medical procedure that my wife had earlier that day I telephoned the hotel and asked for an earlier check in at 1200, the receptionist was helpful and said that this wouldn't be a problem and they could accommodate this request.||On arrival at 1200, we initially couldn't find the reception desk as signage to the reception and car park is poor and you are naturally directed to the restaurant car park. As a result, we walked into the restaurant and were met by the barman. After explaining that I had phoned ahead to arrange an early check in, we were met with a rude response (a shrug of the shoulders, rolling of the eyes and a computer translation). We asked where reception was and told to go away and come back later as the room was not ready (via computer translation). Returning later ignoring the same rude member of staff, we found the eventually found the reception desk on the next floor and were duly checked in, but only then advised of the location of the hotel car park.||After settling in to our room we decided to try out the hotel restaurant, and booked a table at the advice of the receptionist. ||On arrival at the restaurant we walked into an empty restaurant and weren't greeted by anyone. A waitress was behind the bar, but ignored us, there were also what we presumed 3 locals sat drinking at the bar (one of which was the rude barman from earlier who was on his laptop watching the football) who also ignored us. We asked where our table was, and were ignored, so we asked if we can sit anywhere. Again no response, so we went to sit down at a table (none of which were set) at which point we were being spoken about and laughed at, so we decided to leave as it was a completely unwelcoming experience. We decided not to eat at the restaurant for the rest of our stay.||Breakfast wasn't much better, the same rude barman and waitress were on duty for the rest of the week, and the same rude, and very lazy attitude continued, very poor service, and a lot of the time they were sat down at guest tables smoking and generally doing nothing. ||It is a shame as the hotel and accommodation is very good, and the receptionist of the actual hotel is good. The rooms are well appointed and clean, however due to the experience of the restaurant we decided not to try the spa experience.||A nice touch was that I was provided with a surprise bottle of Champagne for my birthday, which was very thoughtful.||I would recommend this hotel from an accommodation point of view and good base to explore the area, but it is let down by the front of house staff who were basically rude, lazy and...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights in this hotel with our friends. The rooms were very cozy, comfortable and clean. The highlight were the 3 dinners - excellent cuisine, e.g. duck with cabbage and lokse (local potato pancakes), local trout, grilled vegetables etc. We enjoyed the wellness area and a small outside pool (it is warmed). The hotel is located nearby the Macocha abbys and several caves (but you will need a car to get there) in a small village (it has a shop and a post office). The only thing that could be improved were the breakfasts, which were quite basic and didnt offer good quality food (e.g. cheese,...
