Life-Endangering Stay in Smoke-Filled Bungalow||||Where to begin...||||We have rented a space for up to 19 people and experienced severe issues at the property we rented for our business conference in Ostrava/Frydek Arena, Czech Republic. What started as a routine arrival turned into a nightmarish and genuinely life-threatening experience due to the reckless management and unsafe conditions at the property.||||Initial Warning Signs and Ignored Safety Concerns: Upon arrival, we were shown to a bungalow that reeked of smoke from a wood burner. We immediately noticed thick smoke in the air, but the owners ( gentleman who took us to the property and the only one that spoke english) dismissed our concerns, insisting it was "just a bit of smoke." We reluctantly settled in but had to leave windows and doors open to breathe, even though it was only 2°C outside. The second floor was unbearable, with temperatures exceeding 30°C and smoke lingering thickly. This created a constant struggle to sleep, resulting in sore throats, headaches, and nausea, which only worsened after waking up to freezing temperatures.||||Repeated Attempts to Address the Issue: Throughout the following day, I tried calling the hosts numerous times for help, only to finally reach them at 9 PM. They agreed to heat up the place, so they lightened the burner again, despite knowing the risks, and assured us it would "only be a bit of smoke." When we returned at 1 AM, we were shocked to find the bungalow choked with dense, suffocating smoke to the point we could barely see a few meters ahead. We feared a fire might have started, but it turned out this was their heating "solution"—an apparently blocked chimney that forced all the smoke to filter directly into the bungalow.||||Our belongings—clothes, electronics, and business materials—were saturated with the toxic smoke. It was impossible to stay indoors, so we spent nearly an hour in the freezing cold at -2°C, exhausted from the day's conference and unable to shower, eat, or even find a safe place to rest. We were calling the owners multiple times, with no answer or call back ( as expected from previous experience)||||Inadequate Facilities and Host's Shocking Response: With no other option, we split up to find alternative places to sleep, and I ended up dragging a smoke-tainted bed to the property’s open breakfast room ( in other building) to escape the hazardous conditions. However, the following morning, the hosts greeted me with anger and disbelief, asking why I was "in the way" in their breakfast area. When I explained our dangerous ordeal, showing them the videos and pictures of the smoke, their response was dismissive, claiming the amount of smoke was "not that bad" and ignoring any accountability.||||End Result: Damaged Property, Health Risks, and Out-of-Pocket Expenses! The negligence and indifference we faced were beyond unacceptable. Part of our team attended the next day’s conference without rest, wearing smoke-damaged clothes, and without a sincere apology from the hosts. We felt treated worse than animals, disrespected, and placed in literal harm’s way.||||In addition to our ruined belongings, which required specialized cleaning totaling over £100( quoted on Monday ), we were seeking a full refund of our stay, given the host’s gross misconduct and life-endangering setup to which we got a response from them that we have never mentioned anything and there is no change that this could of happened. I have screenshot of 16 phone calls tht was made on the day without a response, video of smoke filled property and pictures of the bed in the breakfast room with other pictures showing taking items to speciality cleaning place an so on! I had taken as much action to find a solution, but host just brushed it off as a little bit of smoke can't do any harm! We need to ensure no future guests face this kind of peril and negligence.||||I considered involving local authorities, but with the language barrier and our tight conference schedule, we opted to focus on leaving as quickly...

Read moreThe worst place to stay. We stayed as a large group for 2 days. There are 2 houses on the property. One house is heated by a fireplace, and the exhaust system doesn’t work. All the smoke went into the house, so we had to open the window and tried to sleep at night in 2-degree weather. We were very cold, and in the morning, we all had headaches; our clothes and we ourselves reeked of smoke.||On the second day, we left early in the morning for business and returned at midnight. It was cold outside, so before returning, we asked the owner to light the fireplace. When we came back, we were shocked by what we saw — the whole house was filled with smoke. If we stayed there overnight with the windows and doors closed, it would definitely have been fatal.||Unfortunately, we thought to take photos only after airing everything out, but even then, it was clear that there was a lot of smoke. It’s a pity we can’t upload videos, as there is a lot to show.||To avoid dying from the smoke or freezing, we went to sleep in the second house, searching for any available spots and squeezing several people into the beds. We took the smoke-infused mattress from the smoky house and moved it to the dining area of the other house because there wasn’t enough space for everyone.||The next day, when the owner came, we explained that staying in that house was impossible. Instead of apologizing, the owner (or the owner's son) said there was just a little smoke, turned away, and walked off with an annoyed look on his face, clearly waiting for us to leave as soon as possible.||This is no exaggeration — it’s life-threatening. The owners have no conscience, and I believe they should be in jail before they...
