What can I say? Everything worked and worked well. The staff was lovely and helpful, even bringing our luggage from the parking lot to the room when we arrived. In fact, the front desk person recruited a colleague to help. I felt bad as they were young ladies and I am still old-fashioned enough to want to be the one helping women in need than the other way around, but I can’t deny that we were very appreciative, nonetheless, as our room was in a separate building, partially over rough ground. We were tired and even though we had food we could have eaten, we thought we might save our self the trouble and eat in their restaurant. This was speculative, as many hotel restaurants are mediocre to bad. We went in and the restaurant was a very pleasant place. A good sign. We looked at the menu and it was promising with several dishes we thought sounded appealing, particularly the trout, which was exactly what I was in the mood for. We decided to give it a whirl. Lo and behold, it was a wonderful meal – from the food to the service to the ambiance. The trout, in particular, was of excellent quality- fresh, properly filleted, great preparation, delicious taste and plenty big. I enjoyed every bite. My wife was similarly pleased with her food. The service was exceedingly professional, prompt and friendly. The experience was so good that I told the waiter (I believe his name was Dominic) that if we had time before we left the next day, we would return. He was very happy to hear how pleased we were. Nonetheless, he was surprised when we actually did return for a late lunch, even though it blew a hole through our schedule. I had the same trout as the night before and even though it wasn’t as exquisite, it was still very good and my wife who switched to the trout thought so, too. The room was nicely sized and in good condition. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. The bathroom was fine in all respects, including if I remember correctly, some very nice thick soft towels. After the meal, we collected our luggage, which they stored while we saw the Castle Orlik (nice) and helped get it from storage to even put it in our car. For the money, it was also a good deal. From beginning to end, it was a delightful and trouble-free stay. Our only regret was that we were not staying longer. It was incredibly relaxing and we want more of that as we age and find so many problems with travel these days, including with hotels. Beyond that, we would have loved to avail ourselves of other features and services they offered like horse riding, bowling, miniature golf and massages. They are a “wellness” resort that is particularly well-rounded. The ultimate question is “Would we return?” The answer is a resounding “Yes”. In fact, we decided right then and there that we would return for a much longer stay, despite the fact that there was no reason to go to that area again. We would return just because we wanted to to stay there. There is no other higher compliment I can give. ||I will reveal a revolution in our travel philosophy – because of all the problems we have encountered and the situation is getting worse, we will warp our trip design around going to places where we had flawless hotels stays. If you have a great hotel, almost always the time in a city or town is enjoyable. If you have a terrible experience, it almost doesn’t make a difference what fun you had, otherwise. And after seeing endless amounts of castles, palaces, museums, beautiful scenery of every type, etc., more than we ever imagined we would, what we now crave most is a relaxing, trouble-free trip, as much as can be planned. So book a room in the Equitana Hotel Resort and that will be a...
Read moreThe Czech Republic has a lot of "wellness" resorts and this one in Breznice is a good example. There was a horse show event going on the weekend we were there so the area was a little crowded but we had no trouble parking. Parking can be an issue in the Czech Republic as well as bathroom facilities. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were very nice and the food in the restaurant was very good we thought. The portions were not American size but very filling. We especially liked the pork medallions in mushroom sauce. The french fries I had were OK but the roasted potatoes my wife had were really good. They serve Pilsner Urquell at this facility and I think it is the best beer in Europe. Usually I don't like the "beds" in Czech hotels and these were not great either but good for Europe beds. Low to the floor and not a thick mattress. The bathrooms were clean and available. Breznice is about an hour outside Prague in Central Bohemia. Prices are a little high for Czech but I would recommend this resort...
Read moreWe attended showjumping competition with our equestrian team and really enjoyed our whole stay in this resort. The hotel is cosy, giving a feeling of comfort and relaxation ( however the water in the swimming pool was a little cold). It has very friendly and helpful staff, the food in restaurant is excellent, well prepared and tasty. This is a great place for those who love horses. All facilities for riders and horses are well equipped and situated very close to the hotel, so you don't have to walk miles throughout the day. The competition was organized with high level standard and very welcome athmosphere. If you like to explore the beauties of the nature, you can follow marked tourist path right next to the resort, the surrounding countryside is beatiful, after some 1/2 hour of walking through nearby forest you can come to the little farm, amazing pond and pheasant...
