Motorest Melikana — Hotel in okres Pelhřimov

I am a little bit surprised by how good reviews this restaurant has here. To me, this is a quite trap for tourists driving on highway D1. It looks good from the outside and it looks very professional inside. It is clean and the staff is very nice and helpful. The food looks good. However, the quality is low according to me. We ate here a couple of times and always were disappointed. For example, the salad bar looks amazing, it offers such a huge variability of salads. But if you try them they all almost taste the same. And the taste is not very good. Also, the traditional dishes that are prepared here are on very low quality. So until you go with some "fried" offer where is almost nothing to spoil you will be eating the food that regular Czechs consider low quality. It is great how everything else is done here. But that is not all and enough. If the restaurant should be good, then the quality of the food and its preparation must be good. And this is not that case...

Exceptional service and a truly authentic south Moravian atmosphere and heart. This family-run hotel is in reality even much nicer than on pictures with beautiful cellars and hand picked local wines and produce. There was nothing the super friendly staff would not show us or let us try and they really go into great lengths to take great care of their guests. The location is close to everywhere yet in a quiet street surrounded by greenery. Very family and pets friendly. We only visited their toilets on the highway stop. Unfortunately the welcome is in form of burnt oil smell from their fried food. They charge 10 Kč for the toilet use. The voucher can the be used for the purchases in the restaurant. Toilets were not clean and soap dispenser was out of order. When we asked the cleaning lady about it, she replied without excuse that this situation is normal and that the dispenser doesn't work...
