I spent the weekend at the Angusfarm Inn and had a wonderful time overall. ||||The setting. First the countryside is absolutely beautiful--about a little more than 1 hour from Prague South of Pilsen--there are rolling hills, meadows, and forest. ||||The meals. For dinner, we ordered the steak tasting for two and we got 750g of 3 different types of steak. All were grilled to perfection. This is probably the best steak I have had that is grown in the Czech Republic. The service in the restaurant was excellent with an extensive collection of French wine and plenty of side dishes and appetizers. Breakfast was also very, very good. ||||The room. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms are clean and modern. Altogether very nice. This brings me to our problem. We stayed in suite number 1 and there was a distinct odor in the room that would periodically come and go. It smelled like sewer gas. We mentioned it to the owner and they very kindly offered other rooms but when we returned to move our belongings, the odor was gone. It did re-appear in the middle of the night though which was unpleasant. We had friends in another room and they did not have such a problem. It appeared to be unique to our room. ||||Altogether, we rate this 4 stars and it would have 5 stars if we didn't have that problem which I believe the owner is aware of and...
Read moreI haven't heard about this place until I was visiting a place close by to this one. And I'm very glad that I stopped by. The place looks like it can be a cool wedding or celebration location, with its private green yard and a big bard reconstructed to be a restaurant or the place for events inside. If I understood correctly, the main building for the restaurant burned down and it's being rebuild. In the meantime, the restaurant has been moved to the barn. In the end, for a customer, the current situation with the restaurant in the barn might be actually even more interesting. But it's true I have never been in the original restaurant's building. The menu itself is very simple, but it holds everything that you have got to the place for. I went for a steak and that one was amazing! Prepared exactly according to my preference, tender and juicy. I also liked beef broth. If possible for you, I recommend to make a reservation. Otherwise it might happen that you don't...
Read moreThe food is really really good! Well worth the hype. The service, however, is so so…by no means worthy of a top notch boutique restaurant. The waiting times were, especially at breakfast but also dinner-for getting a dessert menu, for instance-quite long and the waitress/waitresses seemed often too obviously annoyed by the guests and not very professional. The wine selection not great either (the Czech pinot noir was so nasty we couldn’t finish it and had to ask for another wine). Would still come again for the food, though one should take into account it’s not cheap. The accommodation was beautifully decorated but we were unlucky to have some loud drunk other guests there, who were making noise at the garden until 3am…Also pillows were too soft and the A/C very...
