The hotel is located in a wonderfully peaceful environment, at the edge of a small village. There is nature all around so you barely see the other houses through the trees. The rooms are clean, we were offered an apartment for the price of a double room when the requested rooms were full, it had a large bathroom with a huge corner tub. The apartment had a separate living room with a TV, the sofa could be expanded to add an extra bed. There was a mini bar and the prices were comparable to the restaurant, although it offered just coke and water. Towels are changes and waste bins emptied only at request, it is not the typical cleaning service which would include doing the bed etc., but the cleaners are very nice and helpful.||||The wellness area was fine for a three-star hotel, the sauna was rather small, the whirlpool is for four people and the swimming pool also becomes uncomfortable when four or so get in. One has to uncover/cover the pools and switch on/off the sauna, it is not done by the staff but it is OK. It is a bit shame that it is free only until 19.30, you have to pay extra afterwards but then it is private. They employ a very skillful masseur and the prices are reasonable at some 25 EUR per nearly an hour.||||There is also a pool table and table tennis and an outside children playground with a swing, a slide, a trampoline and a sandpit with a lot of toys.||||The only drawback was the restaurant. Breakfast is somewhat limited to the cheapest brand of tea, coffee is also nothing remarkable, one kind of cheese and ham, some cereals and bakery. Fruit and vegetables are limited. It depends on the staff, some are more ready to replenish it, some just remove the empty trays and bring nothing more. I would not recommend paying for half-pension as the meals seem to be more canteen-like compared to the standard restaurant menu. Prices are not of the cheapest for the region, they seem to be pretty aware of the location, there is nowhere to go otherwise, you would have to drive, but the food is tasty. The restaurant seemed a bit understaffed, although there were 3 waiters, they could not stop for a while when the tables were full and it took a while to get the meals on Saturday evening. They close at 10 p.m. but hot meals are served only until 8.30 and 9.30 on Fridays, although they offered to serve us until the latter time even on Saturday.||||The area is great for cycling and cross-country skiing in winter. Paths are well marked and connected across the border with Germany. There is a wonderful cycling/in-line skating track just 3km away and it is 15km long with another one around the lake of Lipno being nearly next to it. This one is nearly level but harder paths can be found as well in...

Thanks to its position on three-country-borders it is ideal place for cyclist and hikers with many views and tourist routes in the heart of Europe. Rooms are very nice with everything man can need - comfortable beds, lot of storage space, small TV (You really wont need it!) and big and good maintained bathroom with toilet. Wellness facility in a hotel consist of whirlpool, pool with counterflow, sauna and massage room where you can find Vladimir - skilled masseur from Ukraine, who will take care of you after busy day. Very kind receptionist (I have forgot her name) will help you with everything you may need during your stay. Restaurant is pretty big and has reasonable offer of food and drinks - perfect draught beer Bakalář. Food is very tasty, starters, something small with beer, main dishes (meat, fish, pasta, ...) and desserts were amazing and delicious. Breakfast were also delicious with a lot of options to try (sweet, sausages, fruit, and way more). But there is still a problem, maybe it was just these two days (evenings) and We were unlucky, but dinners We have got, as We have half-board included, wasnt at all delicious, main dishes without salt, rice was overcooked. I just dont understand why there were asi big difference in quality of food. But I hope that it was just momentary problem and it is not always as this. To be fair I have to say that soups and desserts included in HB were fine and delicious. Although this little inconvenience We have to say big YES to stay at this hotel and it was not the last one. We will be definitely back there...
Read moreJust came back from 6 day vacation at Hotel České Žleby. The hotel is located very close to the german border in pristine part of the Šumava national park. It is the best localation for x-country skiing (close to 150 km of trails). For downhill skiiking, we drove 16 km to Mitterdorf in Germany, which offers very fine experiece.||||What we like did like during our stay:||||- location, location, location ||- competely non-smoking||- family friendly, great for kids||- sauna, small pool, massages||- good regional food ||- very clean rooms, especially the larger appartments||- super dog friendly (you have to pay 180 CZK/night for your dog)||- very professional waiter Lukáš||||what we dont like to much:||- the kitchen experience is not consistent||- Coffee is terrible (tea is high quality and great)||- Juice at breakfast is colored water with sugar ||- The TVs are small||- The cesspit close the hotel really smells at times (fortunatelly you can smell it only at the parking lot, but not a nice...
