Let me start with pros. The swimming pool is long enough, unless you want to crawl. The sauna is nice, it's dimly lit, quite and available until late evening. We only ate once in the restaurant because we prefer vegetarian food and they offer nothing of that sort, maybe a salad. Nevertheless, the meal was really good. Breakfasts were pretty standard. We've ordered what Booking claimed was a ground floor room but were given keys to a room on the 2nd floor, with no elevator. The hotel staff was nice and helpful and gave us a wheelchair accessible room. Unfortunately, the room was not very clean (including bugs, probably isopods) and the mattresses were in a bad shape. There were no slippers and the floor was rather cold. The most disappointing part of our stay was the wellness. We specifically picked this hotel because they offer procedures which are safe for pregnant women, such as cosmetics. In an email response, we were told to order procedures after arrival. When we arrived, we were told to order them a day ahead to make sure the masseuses can come to the hotel. When we came to order a massage the next day, we were told the masseuses' schedule is full, booked some time ago by regular guests who know they should order procedures ahead of the stay. WTH?? In that case we wanted to leave a day earlier but they refused to deal with it, referring to the fact we ordered via Booking and there's nothing they can do. Eventually, the masseuses stayed overtime for us. My recommendation is don't go there. If you do, be a German, carnivore, order everything ahead and cut the middleman...
Read moreThe rooms are bit of a disappointment after you have seen the beautiful building and nice interior. They are actually quite basic. The beds are comfortable though. Bathroom big but basic and,,yes, the unavoidable extractor fan is ridiculously loud. The night is dead quiet (if your room is facing the yeard) but you can hear a lot from the corridor or neighboring rooms. Our neighbor had phone on vibration and it woke me up!||We also had dinner there which was fantastic. We had garlic soup - typically Czech - which means it will securely keep not only vampires but also everyone else away for couple of days:-) beef tartare also great. As main we had rib eye steak which was very nice. Meat comes from Argentina and it has great flavor. The only let down was the salad which was rather tired and below average. As dessert we had their home made blueberry cake which is just awesome and totally must have as the blueberries come from the local forest. ||In total great value. Accommodation with breakfast (which was ok, not great) was 1800 czk (70 eur) and dinner around 50 eur including bottle of Sekt and couple of gin tonics. Would...
Read moreWe were expecting much more, after reading the comments of other guests. However in the mean time it looks like there were some (unfortunately bad) changes in management and staff. Our room had nothing to do with the eulogized atmosphere of a castle hotel, rather more with a pioneer summer camp from socialist times. Inferior tasteless furniture, bed with saggy mattress. Same thing in the bathroom - no extra shower place - you have to jump over the edge of the bathtub and get your shower behind a curtain. The floor gets wet and slippery, so before you make your next jump over the bath edge, you have to wipe it, using most of the towels you get. After waiting ages at the unoccupied reception we have been told to hurry up and be in the restaurant before 20.00 o'clock for dinner, as on Sundays it closes earlier. The only waiter - dingily, food far under the standard of the praised "castle kitchen". May be the management should have a look at other castle hotels in the Check Republic, like Zamek Zabreh - there is a...
