We stayed at the Chotol Hotel for 2 nights whilst we visited Prague on our way to East Bavaria. Although I had let them know it would be 11 pm when we were due to arrive, the hotel was locked and appeared deserted when we did. A general notice on the door tells you to ring an external telephone number if you wish to enter after 9pm, but it is not always answered immediately, and we were left on the steps of the hotel with 2 little children, wondering what we should do. Eventually I made contact, but we had to wait about another 20 minutes for someone to come (by car) to let us in. The hotel itself is fine, and the main Reception staff next day were lovely - but the woman who serves breakfast in the restaurant - called Katka - was terrible, and seemed to think she was running some kind of Young Offenders' Institute. We arrived for breakfast the first morning about 09.30 am [breakfast is listed as 8 am to 10 am] as we'd had a very late night due to the delays getting into the hotel), and there were only a very few items left to eat on the serving table. I asked for some replacement items via Reception staff as there appeared to be no-one around. At 09.55 the requested items had still not arrived, but when I knocked on the kitchen door and asked again, a woman called Katka ( I later asked her name as her service was so appalling and disgraceful) sternly snapped at me "I have already told you, I have to prepare them!" (I wondered - but did not ask - luke warm hot dog sausages, how long does that take?). She then reluctantly brought them in but barked "breakfast finishes at 10 o'clock!". And she meant it! She stood at the side of our table pointing to her watch and reminding us every few seconds that we must leave. We were not even allowed to take a few slices of bread and cheese with us to our room. The children just could not eat fast enough for her, and with her breathing down their necks. As we were pushed out of the restaurant, she dramatically locked the restaurant door right behind us. The next day we saw another couple given the same treatment and given almost no choice of food, and when they reminded her that they were on holiday and guests of the hotel, Katka shouted at them "If this were a supermarket which closed at 10 am the doors would be locked at 10 am!" pointing to her watch. The guests quite correctly retorted that this was NOT a supermarket but a hotel which should make its guests feel welcome and comfortable. No wonder the place was nearly deserted - even though it was high season! Katka needs to remember that without guests, she will have NO JOB. The guests are not naughty pupils intent on breaking the law; they are paying customers who wish to enjoy a pleasant holiday and feel welcome. People do not wish to feel as if they are participants in a military training (boot) camp. This woman is a DISGRACE to hospitality, and should be SACKED immediately! It's a shame, because the hotel could flourish without her. Alternatively, if she continues to work there, the Reviews will be bad and prospective customers will be lost; and no-one will ever want to stay there; and certainly no-one will ever want to return. It's sad for the Reception staff who...
Read moreThe drop-down menu won't let me choose the correct year of my stay. However, I stayed at Hotel Chotol for approximately 10 months in 2011 for work-related reasons.||||The first impression was not that bad - my double room was just about big enough for one person, I didn't need more space. Although everything smelled a bit stale, the bathroom looked like it had been renovated recently, and also the fridge and wardrobes seemed clean. (Later, I spoke to a girl living next door who told me that her fridge was completely mouldy when she came there.) I just assumed nobody had been accommodated in my room for some time. I cleaned the room and bathroom myself, but that wasn't a problem, I knew that room service was not offered for long-term guests.||||My bed wasn't particularly comfortable, but not a disaster either. What bothered me more were airplanes flying very low over the hotel, which is actually situated more or less in the axis of the runway.||||I can't say anything about food - none was provided, apart from a few sweet & savoury snacks available at the reception.||||The staff was quite ok. It was actually the hotel manager and his relatives if I remember correctly. Later, a gypsy family took over. They were kind and willing; however, that's not all you need from a hotel manager as we all found out later.||||Real problems started when the heating and hot water were turned off. Several power outages occurred as well. This took a few weeks, maybe over a month. Apparently, the manager hadn't been paying the bills, and the guests faced the consequences. ||||I left the hotel soon and was expecting to get back my deposit as promised at the beginning of the stay. I haven't seen my money...
Read moreThe resorption desk workers don't speak English/Russian well, mostly don't know it. The room service is terrible, it the hotel site written that they cleaning the room every day, but they actually do it once in 2 days, for me and my friend they didn't clean the room for 4 days!! The shampo and soap is only "welcoming" gifts and they don't give that every time. ||The breakfast is very poor, coffe, tea, some cornflex with milk and meat. ||In the rewie they also said that the hotel is close to Praha, what is not true either, to get to the centre of the city you need to take 1 bus and then a metro, that will take you around 35 minutes, but to go back you need to caught the last bus at 12pm, so if you wanna go out you really can't. And a taxi is too expensive. ||The wifi is really weak and doesn't fast. It only works when you are in the ground floor near the computer, so in the room you can't really be in Internet. ||There is no LCD television in every room! Only in ground hall, in your room you will have small 12 inch tv, and NOT LCD or plasma/led. ||In 30.12 me and my friend met a big group of Russian tourists that came to the hotel, except their problems in registration that I really don't know if that cause of them or cause the hotel, but when they entered to their rooms they said that they don't have water in a shower. The hotel said that it cause many people try to have a shower at the same time, so they don't have enough water too. ||In conclusion, don't go there! Try...
