I agree with some of the other reviewers that the service lets this place down.||||The location is lovely - a nicely restored stately home forms the centrepiece of the hotel, with suites available in the original part of the house. They have built a relatively sympathetic (architecturally) extension for the main part of the hotel, where the majority of guest rooms are located, the spa and swimming pools, and the restaurants.||||The hotel is well-designed with internal corridors linking all the disparate spaces so there's no need to walk outside in winter -- although the grounds are nice and so it's enjoyable to walk down by the lakes, for example.||||The guest room was comfortable and a decent size although surprisingly lacking in power points for a modern hotel so not that easy to work from.||||The spa facilities were good with indoor and outdoor heated pools plus multiple saunas & steam rooms.||||The food was decent but by no means exceptional - the teleci rizek (veal schnitzel) needed to be thinner and was tough in places, and the potato salad that accompanied it was unexceptional. The kulaida soup was nice. The thing that really let the restaurant down was the service - it was diabolical. Staff would hang around the bar ignoring customers, and for lunch we were eight but only seven main courses arrived! How does a waiter not check there are the same number of orders as people when they take the order? We constantly had to attract the staff's attention and on one occasion had to get up and go to the bar because we were being ignored. That's one-star service,...
Read moreI will start with pluses: great clean pools, warm also outdoors. Big fitness room, playing room for children with many attractions, outdoor playgrounds, lake, chateau park, wellness center, possible to borrow electro bicycles. Great food! Nice nature around to explore, we tried also with horses. There are some minuses however: too warm rooms even during spring (outside temp 16, indoor 27, how?) so it was hard to sleep without air conditioning running all the time, always warm pipe water, sauna is open after 5pm and closed at 9pm. I like sauna but I am parent with small kid and this was too restrictive. At least one sauna open all the time would help. Hotel people are nice but very often not informed. And were not prepared for people demanding all the activities in their offer, so were usually looking for info and equipment for...
Read moreRead moreVery nice surroundings, beautiful gardens, all is very clean. |Breakfast was very impressive (buffet) and of good quality.|I stayed in the old part of the hotel- I am not a fan of the medieval style with lots of wood, stuffed animals and carpets. My room only had a very small window but luckely AC worked very good.|Food in the restaurant was average.|This hotel is popular for weddings and corporate events, so was not happy that 1 evening the nicest (renovated) part of the restaurant was reserved for a company event.|But the main reason for the 3 star rating is the fact that most of the staff do not speak English; even at reception. I pressume a lot of customers are locals, but you would expect a basic knowledge if you...
