I booked 10 nights and several beer baths and massages for my stay due to several great reviews on TripAdvisor. However, upon arrival and throughout our stay it became very apparent that English speaking people are not welcome here. My wife, my brother, and I noted daily the reluctance of the receptionist to even look at us or acknowledge us whenever we begged for her attention. ||I booked us massages for three separate days but cancelled them after the first one. My brother and I were in the same room and told to undress as his male and my female masseuse stood in front of us. He was naked but the female had me keep shorts on, strange. The 50 minute complex "treatment" was the 30 minute worst massage I have had in all of Europe and US. We trave a great deal and visit spas often. ||The beer bath is only hype but you get to say you did it. We have family in the area and visit the village yearly. We decided to treat our local relatives to this "great" treatment so book 5 baths a day for 3 days. Our relatives declined as they are familiar of the bad staff. We cancelled all baths after trying one. ||We wanted to try the "free" spa but were rudely shooed away as we approached the pool reception 3 hours before it closed and were told to make a reservation, even just to use the pool. We made a reservation 3 days later for the pool and sauna (costs extra). The pool receptionist was still very cold and just tossed towels on the counter and said nothing to us but waved her hand to go the direction of the sauna, not the same treatment that the next customers got as the spoke German and got the royal treatment. She also had her son (about 7 yr) at the pool that day and he chased off several guests with all his splashing around. ||Food at their restaurants was average Czech fare but over-priced and, again, staff very cold. ||Relatives in the area were right when they urged us to stay clear of the hotel, stay in Plzen or Marianske Lasne instead. We cancelled our remaining days and additional dates later the next month. Relatives stated that the great reviews were likely written by their German employees and upon rereading the reviews you will see truth in this. ||I will say that the housekeeping staff were...
Read moreGo elsewhere. This was the worst experience I have ever had. Reception rude. Waitstaff in BOTH restaurants RUDE. Asked if I could add a tip to bill and was ignored. Not family friendly. My 13 month old daughter is not there yet to use a real plate, she moves it and it ultimately ends on the ground broken. Well the waiter in the other restaurant did not accept my daughter eating bread off the paper placemat so he huffs and sternly puts a plate down in front of her. Really a 13 month old infant. This hotel is in bad condition. On top of the staff being rude, then actual facilities are dilapidated. My body was burned when I tried to take a shower the same receptionist from checkin “rude” says not my fault. The water runs through a series of scalding to freezing without even touching the controls. This is after waiting 10 minutes for it to warm up from freezing water. Having traveled all over the world, and all over Europe go elsewhere to a different beer spa. There are plenty of choices and Kozel is a good alternative beer. The spa, I’ve had much better. Staff was also not friendly at all. Moving us from the change room which is smaller than a handicap toilet stall. Picture trying to strip down naked with 4 other women inside then getting prodded like cattle to move to the bath then the so called relaxation room was a party with people snapping pictures so flashes of light in the dark continually going off then laughing carrying on. No not relaxing. Reception staff saying nothing they could do. If you advertise “relaxing” then adhere to the advertising. Tell guests if they want to party and carry on then go to the bar or pool. Don’t bother crediting for the bath you can have the money so I don’t have to listen to your attitude any longer. Oh and to add this was the third time I had been to this place. I will make sure to tell my friends on social media about this experience. Thank goodness it was only 1 night. Breakfast not...
Read moreI biked from Marianske Lazne and was totally looking forward to a massage and soak. If you are used to American massage experiences, totally skip this or else you'll be greatly disappointed. However, the beer bath is unique and a must-do.||||So, the flaw: The massage. It was supposed to be an hour. I had a male therapist, which is totally fine by me. However, he only stepped outside the open door when I disrobed and then walked in while I was stark naked and not even under the sheet. It seems that this is not a wholly unusual practice, and there were other moments when I was pretty exposed. I never felt that he was being creepy, but it was indeed different. Also, after about thirty minutes of very light pressure (though I tried to tell him he could work more firmly), I was covered with a sheet and told to rest. Nothing great. It was still somewhat relaxing, but nothing amazing.||||What was really cool: The beer bath. They use stainless steel tubs (I'd seen other advertisements for baths in other cities that look like they are more or less done in wooden barrels). And you get to enjoy a half pint of the local brew while you soak and another half pint of it while you rest in your little sheet cocoon thereafter. Yummmm! My skin did not feel noticeably different, but it was such a relaxing experience, even though I'm not the kind of person to love sitting in hot tubs, nor do I even prefer baths over showers. ||||In all, the employees are really kind, the place itself is quiet and relaxing, and I would definitely recommend stopping if you're...
