Don't know why Google flags my review as offensive. We booked this hotel because of two reasons: 1) Secluded location in the middle of a forest, far away from main road; 2) Focus toward bikers (gravel in our case). On both fronts Hotel Skovly did not disappoint. The owners are very friendly and helpful, the two dogs ale also cute. The service station on site is great if you want to clean your bike after a ride (could use a hose with running water or a pump spray bottle though and PV compressor didn't work unfortunately and the AV one is a bit tired, but there's a stranding pump at the front desk you can borrow) and you can stock up on basics like inner tubes if need be. The hotel is surrounded by a network of gravel paths that you can ride/hike/run and serve as a great starting point for longer rides, be it MTB, gravel or road. Cycleway 10 runs directly by the hotel. The hotel owner also uploads some rides and routes to Strava, so I used them as a base for my own routes to explore the island. The hotel, being in the middle of the forest, is a very quiet one, there's a beach nearby, 2 minutes' walk, there are some benches there too and as it's the western coast - beautiful view of the sunset. Ronne is about 10-15 minutes away by bike though great gravel trail or by road if you're a roadie. Breakfast in form of a buffet, though not very varied (compared to much bigger hotels to be fair) was great and tasty, I loved the jams and eggs. I missed the restaurant a bit (there isn't one at the hotel) and after a whole day on a bike didn't feel like setting up a grill (that was free to use) and opted to dine in Ronne instead. The room was fine, we had the premium one, large enough to keep both our gravel bikes inside. It could be cleaned a bit better though. The sofa was great to relax on, the bed was also fine, pillows could be a bit more supportive, they were to soft for me. I'd also trade the typical Danish windows for a more modern one, opening to the inside and with a mosquito net on both of them (so I could use a draft instead of AC - Yes, the room has AC and it was great). The refrigerator (small and a bit loud at night), TV and Wifi were also a very welcome addition (the wifi is set up to use multiple access points, but without roaming, so you need to connect to all of them and rely on your device to switch to the strongest on it's own, not really a problem if you're staying in your room for most of the time). Overall, we're very happy with our stay, will come back someday and will recommend Skovly Hotel as a great staging place for exploring Bornholm, especially for gravel and MTB...
Read moreTruly beautiful surroundings. Comfortable and clean rooms (but really hard/firm beds). We enjoyed the AC unit and having a little fridge in the room. We really enjoyed the minigolf course and quiet evenings.
Unfortunately half of our group got food poisoning at the hotel. When contacting the hotel they first reccomended us to contact the manifacturer of the mayo we ate (which surprised us). Then later the hotel explained that 3 more people had reported sickness, but suggested that we all got it from the dog show we were attending the day before. We had no food or drink at all at the dog show, only at the hotel, and suspect that it was because of the condiments (mayo) served with the panini, which we got in a basket to bring to our room. Since the only one of us who didn't get sick never ate any. We didn't feel like the hotel personel was supportive or sympathic with this. We choose to cut our stay short due to this.
This hotel was very close (by car) to lots of museums and sightseeing. Wheelchair friendly and...
Read moreWe arrived at Skovly Bornholm and had all sorts of excursion ideas for the day. Once we sat on our private terrace, a peaceful tranquility surrounded us as we watched nature buzz. Needless to say, we rested and enjoyed the lovely summer day. Walking two minutes through the forest, we reached a lovely sandy beach.||The managing couple have established a lovely, old school nature lovers place which is full of Danish hygge. They very successfully blend stories of the past with modern expectations. They've created their own moutainbike singletrack which is by far the most beautiful trail with a few surprisingly difficult parts.||The food is delicious and we could tell that they had a particular interest in tasty, healthy and good quality food because many of their things were homemade with ingredients found in Bornholm. ||They are committed and passionate at Skovly. Ask them about anything really; Bornholm, the food, the history of Skovly, the vintage toy collection, MTB - and stories pour out. We want...
