Wow, we really loved this hotel. First, the location is perfect, right on the beach and so quiet. We stayed in Fyr Annex in a beautiful large room with a terrace facing the sea. Everything in the room was lovely (bathroom is small but with a good shower). The housekeeping service was exceptional, with lots of thoughtful touches every day to ensure we had what we needed. Very good, friendly service throughout the hotel. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection of cheeses, meats, fruit, yoghourt, juices etc and eggs, bacon or sausages as well each day, served in the beautiful dining room overlooking the sea. The bread was particularly gorgeous. We had dinner in the hotel twice during our five night stay. The food is good but it's a set menu and we would have preferred some a la carte choices as well. It's definitely 'fancy' food, which we didn't want to eat every evening, otherwise we would have been happy to dine in each night. High end alternatives are quite a drive away, although there are some good and homely restaurants in nearby Gudhjem. The only other downside is there are no coffee making facilities in the room, which we would have liked to have. But we had a fabulous time in this beautiful and relaxing hotel and would come again in...
Read moreWe ordered a table for lunch at Melsted Badehotel in middle of august and had a great experience.
The location is stunning and the view and nature breath taking and we had a walk around and a swim after the lunch as well.
The hotel and the restaurant is beautifully restored with interiors matching the classic style of a Danish Seaside hotel.
We are seated at the terrace with a stunning view over the beach and was seated and attended by a professional and experienced waitress.
The drinks menu was not over extended and we Aimed for the havtorn sour, which was a refreshing aperitif.
The wine list was extensive and we opted for some Pouilly-Fumé wine, which were excellent and reasonable priced.
The lunch menu was somewhat restricted to Smørrebrød type of food, maybe because it was late in the season, however we didn’t mind and ordered a mix of shrimps & eggs, cold smoked salmon, beef tartar and new potato’s. They were all delicious and well presented, but the cold smoked salmon was the winner, don’t miss it.
During the lunch we also tried some local snaps and beers, do not miss out on the havtorn beer, amazing.
Overall a fantastic dining experience in beautiful surroundings and a great service as well. See you...
Read moreThis is a beautifully restored hotel, just the right size, with wonderful views of the beach and the ocean. Our seaview suite in one of the annexes was a delight, with a separate bedroom for the kids, and all the storage in the hallway so that the bedroom itself was a serene, uncluttered haven. The restaurant is great, with a wonderful five-course tasting menu, which changes every day; it was always well planned and exquisitely executed. The chef himself is a really lovely man, and comes up with thoughtful kids options too. Special mention to the fantastic Polish mother-and-daughter housekeeping team, who could not do enough to help us, and were brilliant at laundering our piles of dirty washing from the glamping part of our holiday immediately beforehand. We love this hotel and will definitely be back. Thank you,...
