The location was nice and had a very cozy and homely feel to it. Parking space was a problem, probably because they were fully booked for events. The rooms poorly lit for taking pictures, which was a shame, considering it was the middle of the day and they were mostly lit by unnatural light (instead of getting more sun in the room). The food was fine. The starter was a good amount of salmon with greens and a side of bread and butter (would have been nice if the bread had stayed for the main course). The main course was Cockerel breast with potatoes, gravy and some vegetables and cooked mushrooms. Meat was plain, potatoes were fine though a bit too rustic for my taste, the gravy lacked flavor, and the vegetables were dull and didn't add anything to the meal. The desert was great! Two well made pancakes, accompanied by two scoops of ice cream (one a very flavorful vanilla and the other a rich chocolate) a strawberry, and some nutty crunch. The towels in the women's bathroom were drenched. Only one of the three soap dispensers worked in the men's bathroom. The personnel seemed a bit pushy getting us from the dinning room to the lounge (but this was for them to prepare for another event later the same evening), which made us feel like we were rushed so that they could make more money. Also they apparently have some rules concerning when speaches are allowed (only when food and personnel weren't in the room, from what I could understand). The welcome drink was a bit too dry, the white wine was dull, the red wine was fine and the dessert wine was very nice and sweet (but not too sweet). The lounge meal consisted of red hotdogs with all the usual Danish condiments, and seemed satisfactory for the guests(I was still full from the 3 course meal). All in all a nice place, a lot of potential, and we all had a great day. Upping the food, the hospitality and the few practicality oriented problems would grant them the two remaining stars. Wouldn't mind coming back...
Read moreThis was a frustrating experience for us. The hotel it self is fine. Decor is outdated, with 70’s brown tiles and non-soundproofed doors. But rooms are large, fully outfitted and quiet. Good beds and dark curtains. The swimming pool and game room/library are a plus too. The restaurant is very classical. Very very classical, the menu, wine list and service are ooze the 70’s. With mains in the € 35 range and glasses of wine from € 8 it is not cheap. Our panfried Plaice with beurre noisette and steamed new potatoes and Veal steak with calvados sauce with home made pommes croquettes were really well prepared. Excellent ingredients cooked to perfection and well seasoned. So why just two stars? Because the restaurant was managed really badly and it took us two hours to be served. Arriving at 7PM we were told we could only get a table after 8PM. At 8.30 the head waitress told us in Danish they were full and we would have to go to somewhere else. We had to ask for another waiter to translate. This was unacceptable as we were hotel guests and a family with three hungry kids who had already waited for 1,5 hours. Basically, they knew we were coming and were waiting. So they ended up putting us outside on the smokers terrace with little light and uncomfortable chairs. No excuses, no compensation just an...
Read moreThe exterior of the building gives great hope that the stay will be pleasant and relaxing. In truth it was average at best. The initial welcome from the reception was good and the peek inside a relaxed room with open fire close by gave great hope for the stay. Walking towards the room, the feeling began to rapidly change. The dated look of the corridor and then room was hugely disappointing. Now, to be clear, this was not characterful. It was dated and extremely basic. Dare I say, not the cleanest in certain parts of the room. I booked what was called a luxury double room. I’m still looking for the luxury? Not as much as a coffee machine. Coffee and paper cups in room. Went to get food in the restaurant around 19.45 & was told we could only order 1 course as the kitchen would close soon. A nice welcome 🤥 The food was decent when it came in truth. Crispy pork Danish style with parsley sauce etc. Enjoyed this and was plentiful. Went to reception and asked for an iron & was directed to a laundry room near the pool where an useless non-steam iron and tiny board say for use. Went to the bar for a drink on the last night. Zero atmosphere and again very, very dated. Overall very disappointing experience. Highly unlikely to...
