This was our first experience camping in Europe which is very different from camping in the U.S. We don't speak Danish but had no problems at all making the reservations via email & phone, checking in, etc. We rented a cabin that had 4 bunkbeds that pulled out from the wall and a large loft that could easily sleep 2-3 adults. There were clean sheets and fluffy duvets waiting on the beds when we arrived. The cabin was very clean and adorable. The outside looked like a fairy-tale house, our girls loved it. The inside was small but very efficient as everything folded up neatly when not in use. There was a small fridge but no running water. This wasn't a problem since right next door was a little recreation building that had a kitchen in it (as well as a TV and some games). A few steps down the bath led to a very clean bathroom with toilets and sinks. A bit of a longer walk led to the private showers which were also very clean. Across the road from the campground was a lovely beach (be aware, many public beaches are topless or nude if this bothers you. We had 4 young children with us, our 2 sons who were under age 10 and our 2 daughters who were under age 7, they couldn't have cared less - just thought I'd mention this to any American/Canadian readers since it's not common here and our beach culture is different. Anyway, there was a nice little cafe/ice cream shop at the entrance to the camp ground that served hot food cooked fresh. There was also an Aldi grocery market just down the road a bit. And yes, it's the same Aldi we have in the U.S., just in Danish :) ||||European camping differs from American camping in that campers are VERY close to one another. Where in the U.S., each spot is a comfortable distance apart (except maybe if you're camping next to an amusement park or something) with privacy. This wasn't an issue with us because we wanted to get to know who was staying near us and Danes are pretty friendly and interested in American accents. The entire experience was just wonderful and I would love to go visit again. The staff were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable in a strange country after traveling so far. Highly recommend this clean, quiet, beautiful camp site. You can tent camp, bring your camper (or caravan as I think they call them) or rent a...
Read moreThis campsite gets one star for it's proximity and ease of getting into Copenhagen so really it's a one star campsite. The pitches are fine, reasonable size and green. ||However there are just four showers for the whole campsite plus one family bathroom. That's not four for women and four for men it's four total! There must be hundreds of pitches so you can see there is already a challenge. Therefore there are queues all the time for showers another challenge in a country that rains a lot. |There is also a problem with hot water; the instructions say you have to run the water for up to five mins to get hot water!! Surely in an age when we should be conserving water this needs to be addressed. ||There are three very cramped basins in the women's toilets for teeth brushing /washing etc. So there is also often a queue after you go to the toilet to even wash your hands. ||The facilities are very tired and clearly the owners care more about profit than they do guest experience. This morning it was pouring with rain so as I waited for my shower I stood under the only shelter which also had a wasp nest in it. By the time I got into the shower I had a wasp in my hair. Luckily I'm neither afraid nor allergic but imagine someone who was allergic!|| Awful campsite. Really could not recommend at all and would seriously advise people to put honest reviews here so the owners actually make some investment into the...
Read moreWe stayed here for 4 nights late May / June 2016. When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon the reception was closed so we just found a place and pitched. The site is OK, the showers are hot but the cubicle was a bit tired and not as clean as we would have liked. The toilets and wash basins were fine. Quite a few of the 'campers' were workers who left the site early in the morning. (you often get this on city camps)||It was convenient for the train station (although a gate at the back of the site would have made the walk much shorter) and if you wanted there was a local beach just over the main road. There are take aways on the main road and at the entrance to the site.||Our biggest concern was the lack of security. There was no barrier or gate so anyone could wander into the site from the main road at any time of the day or night. Although we had no problems a fellow camper had their purse stolen when they were shopping in the local...
