Marielyst Familiecamping — Hotel in Guldborgsund Municipality

We booked this accommodation due to its close proximity to Gedser and the Rostock ferry. We were attracted also by the extra activities this park offered such as archery, next door aqua park and canoeing. ||We found signage to the park lacking. The cabin itself was fine and as advertised. Except for the DVD player which was listed but missing and the patio was non existent. The cabins are new and clean but are situated in the middle of an unkept meadow.||The park itself however looks very rundown. Lending an 'eerie' feeling to it. What was most disappointing however was the activities were non existent and as you can see from the photos they had obviously not been operational for some time. In fact the aqua park looked like it had been shutdown for a while, The website offered "50% discount" at this aqua park - not possible if it is shut down. This was a disappointment to us as we had booked this location with the activities in mind. ||There was free internet as advertised, however you had to walk 100m to the reception area to access it.||In this regard we think the on line information is in fact misleading and needs to be updated. The fine print did mention limited activities available during low season however our stay was in Summer, so we had a reasonable belief that activities would be operating.||The park was obviously big in its day and maybe given some more time it may one day return to this state -...

Pricing is good if it's a fully functional camping where all facilities are up to date. However: swimming pool is closed and looks like it needs some big renovation work. whole placed is swamped with big caravans complete with fenced gardens, lanterns and so forth. However in late high season only a smal portion is occupied, which gives it an eerie appearance. play ground looks really worn, unmaintained and thus unsafe. lakes inside camping are hardly visible from all the overgrown bushes. paths are unclear and unmaintained

On the upside: The showers and toilets were clean and tidy.. We found the (New) owners very helpful and kind. Very good clean and complete...

We have stayed here during the spring and summer for the last 3 years, and have seen the transformation this place has gone through, from neglected and forgotten to loved and 'hyggelig', we love this place :)||There are two playgrounds for the kids, activities during the summer and of cause the pool and slides.||||There are a couple of small lakes/ponds for a lovely evening walk, and if you are lucky you might see the rabbit or deer in the early morning.||The owners are lovely and extremely helpful and we can only recommend staying here, though you should notice that they have changed the name to 'Marielyst Familiecamping' :)||||We will be back in...
