This is a former school house in the middle of a small and quiet village, which was used as a school until 1968. Some years ago, the Markersen family living next door turned it into a very small motel. The main house was built in the 1910s, and now holds the breakfast area, kitchen and two rooms where one can buy bric-a-brac. The actual guest rooms are in a new one-story wing behind the school building, and all open directly onto the courtyard motel-style. Except cars cannot drive onto the courtyard, it is too small. ||||When I tried to make the reservation by phone, the proprietor had some trouble with English, so I resorted to e-mail. That worked fine. When we arrived, Ms. Markersen came over to open up. At any rate, the free rooms had their keys in the door from the outside, so we could have checked ourselves in. ||||The rooms are nicely located, with a back view towards the horizon across some fields. The furniture is clean, but do not expect a stylish layout. It is part Ikea, part expedience, but the beds are good. We paid 550 DKK for a double room with two persons, about 75 EUR, and very fair for Denmark. Breakfast was OK with orange juice from mix, but a nice bread selection with cheeses, so given the price of 45 DKK per person (6,25 EUR) we could not complain.||||One important thing: The motel does not serve any dinner, and the whole village of Majbolle does not have any restaurants, diners or even a fuel station. So have your dinner before you arrive or expect to make another drive after checking in. I can recommend the restaurant "Hotel Saxkjøbing" in...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I found it a lovely experience to stay at this motel mostly because the couple keeping the place was really nice. It’s a very old fashioned place, used to be the school of the village. We loved the atmosphere more than anything. It comes with a bit of a compromise on the shower but we do not regret it. It’s perfectly located for road trippers of any kind as it’s close to the highway and bikers stayed there too at the same time. The village is...
Read moreWe stayed at the motel twice within two weeks. The first stay was booked via Trivago and it went smoothly. However on our second stay, which we booked directly from the motel, the price for the stay doubled up. We had agreed with the owner that we would pay the same amount as before but when it was time for the payment it was twice as much as before. When we tried to contact the motel regarding this they hung up on us on the phone. Therefore would...
