The island of Oro is very charming and it’s a lovely place to spend a few days. The hotel is well located in the center of the main village by the church. The premises have been partially renovated recently including the restaurant. We stayed in three different rooms in one of the annexes. The room are clean but very small and the bathroom are tiny and are equipped with Italian shower meaning that it’s not a shower cabin and that you end up with water all over the floor which is not the best option for a hotel. The breakfast is very decent. For the standard of the facilities and the location we found the place quite expensive - 1000 kr/ night for a double room including breakfast and for that price they don’t make the rooms as they consider that this is not normal practice in hotels. On the restaurant that we had tried on other recent occasions we must say that it’s absolutely nothing special. They serve traditional danish food that could be delicious but there it is just very average and you should expect a long waiting time. All this to say that if you want to spend a night or two in Oro, this is not necessarily the option we would recommend based on our experience of a group of 5 people who spent 3 nights there. There’s definitely room for...
Read moreThe hotel is located on the Ireland (you have to take a 4 minutes ride on the ferry to get there, the yellow ferry charters every 20 minutes while another ferry goes regularly only on weekends and in week days it goes once every 3-4 hours). The room was spacious, comfy, equipped with a toilet and a shower with hit water. The temperature in every facility could be regulated separately. The bedding was clean, in good condition and of a good quality. The beds are comfy, complaints. The huge plus was the breakfast included: boiled eggs, omelet, sausages, cold cuts, warm buns, coffee, tea, milk, butter, jam and honey - Yammy :) I took one star away (and then put it back) for the service - I was lacking a hair dryer ( I think it would be good if it was offered as a possibility for some extra money or free of charge with the deposit). I wish everybody who loves tranquility and the cosy village atmosphere, would visit Orø Kro and the hotel :) Oh, yes, the hotel is...
Read moreWe had a reservation here last weekend, we were taking our young kids to Sjælland for the weekend and wanted to stay somewhere pretty. Unfortunately we had an accident with our car and couldn’t come further. We called the hotel a few times ti keep them up to date with the situation and the young Lady we spoke who was really nice and understanding and said she would get the manager to call us so we could talk to them about what to do. We didn’t hear anything and had to contact them ourselves only to be told we couldn’t have the stay moved out refunded because they are fully booked (which makes zero sense). The kind, customer service minded thing to do would be to give an option to stay at another time, so we don’t loose our money and they get happy customers. Instead of the snobby emails my husband received basically saying it’s not their problem and we are welcome to pay for another stay.
Very very disappointed. We will never...
