Denmark itself is a country with a very high conscientiousness on its environmental impacts and the citizen needs. The moment we boarded the train to Hvidovre we stepped into a cart for bicycles, baby-carts and wheelchairs, passengers were encouraged to sit on both ends of the carts with seats and glasses to preserve the quietness of the trip.||||When we arrived at Avedore and stepped out, we had a sense of the countryside right away. The town itself was quiet, no flashy billboards, we found a few eateries on Mediterranean food and pizzeria, a meat market and a small shop for vegetables and fruits, a tattoo shop and a dollar-tree type store for clothes and kitchenware. We walked on a small country-road without cars for 17 minutes with trees, birds and squirrels everywhere. Green, green, and green. We saw one high rise residential building, a gym with American football field and an apartment building of 4 stories high. The rest of the housing are brick buildings in a very uniform style that tile roofs and skylights could be found.||||The hostel itself is in a cluster of buildings like that. They used to be a military compound but converted to a museum and other residential usages. The hostel is composed of 2 buildings with another building for kitchen purpose that could accommodate 40 people. The first impression that we got was flesh and clean. The front desk person Torbeh was very friendly and gave us a briefing on the facilities and showed us a building where Catherine Deneuve used to shoot a film at. Very pleasant and friendly.||||The room itself was a room for 3 people, we had to do our own bed-sheets and pillows but you could appreciate the cleanness of the bed-sheets. They had scents of cleanliness and fragrance. None of these fabrics seemed to be too old or worn out. Each room had a jade plant by the window and there weren't any bugs, flies or mosquitoes to bother you.||||Each room was equipped with a private bathroom with all the basic needs and towels without extra charges. Small but sufficient.||||We opened the window for the rest of the evening, cool air and quietness could still be achieved. We had encountered noises from a few trucks and people occasionally walking their dogs. That were all we saw from our windows. The room had a TV, HD and new. The hostel was also equipped with WiFi that allowed me to write this review.||||The only drawback we had was our room location which was right next to a small kitchen. The residents were making meals and noises could be heard. The same time the hostel was renting out to a whole bunch of youth, these teenage boys were making sounds before 9pm. Not serious ones but silly ones. That reminded us we were not in heaven but on earth.||||We had a party of three and we all appreciated this setting and what the hostel could provide during our stay. The hostel location is a bit remote and far from the attractions but other than that, this is a picturesque location and an ideal one for countryside setting. ||||With the price they set, it ought to be the lowest we could find in Copenhagen. We were very happy at this hostel and I want to give it my highest...
Read moreWe stayed there as a family with three children. Getting comparable large family room elsewhere in or around Copenhagen proved either impossible or way too expensive. The Belaegningen was a great value for money - nice, neat, clean, good service (within hostel's limits), located in a quiet area of typical scandinavian suburbian atmosphere. We took a large room with private bathroom and stayed very comfortably. The only "hidden" charge was for the towels (bed linen is included in price), but they asked just 10 DKK (1.25 EUR) a piece, so never minded that.||If you have a car, the free parking is just in front of the hostel, if you are on feet (just as we were) you may easily manage getting to the centre of Copenhagen. As first reviewer said it is 15 min walk over nice park lane to S-train station and then 15 min train ride into the centre. Trains on line A go every 10 min, so you do not need to plan the time, just go. Remember to buy the discounted travel card at the station (klipkort 3-zones), so one trip will cost you ca. 2 EUR per adult (up to 2 children under 12 can travel free with one paying adult, age 13-16 buy half...
Read moreClean, simple, convenient, quite, practical & very friendly atmosphere with nice kitchen facilities, in an old refurbished military camp.
Free wifi is available, but only if you arrive within the reception hours, because else is impossible to find out the code. As we arrived always a bit after h 22:00 it was easy to get the key (excellent box service with code), but we could not have / find out the wifi code.
I suggest the management to improve this service by sending the wifi code together with the booking confirmation and the key box code, or more practically and convenient the wifi code should be written / found somewhere in the room...
There is modern smoke alarm, but (else extremely friendly) refugees living there, are breaking the rules by covering / deactivating the smoke detector while they are hapilly smoking waterpipes despite the fact that it is forbidden.
Is very near to CPH airport, so is practical & easy to catch the flight especially early in...
