Hotel Skandinavien — Hotel in Langeland Municipality

This is only a 2 star hotel, but you'd never guess, it's a bit like a coaching inn with a large carpark at the back accessed through an arch. It's very near the harbour and main shopping street in the town, but is nevertheless quite quiet. Our room was clean and comfortable, with some really nice organic products (shampoo, body lotion, etc) in the bathroom. The free wifi worked well and there was a computer with internet access and a printer available for guests to use, free of charge. There was also a small kitchen along the corridor with a kettle and free tea and coffee. Building work was going on while we were there, to create a new staircase with a stair lift, but it didn't bother us. The manager (or owner?) was lovely, offering honey, throat lozenges and hot drinks when my wife went down with a sore throat. The breakfast buffet is worth the expense, and there's an honesty box system for evening beers and other drinks rather than a bar. No restaurant either, but several within 5...

What a great hidden gem of a hotel. Our group of 9 arrived late after dinner. Convenient location, very close to the ferry, and in town. The owner made us all feel welcome. You have to love a guy that greets the ENTIRE family with a handshake, and a warm hello. Our family of four stayed in the apartment across the street. We were given the run of the hotel as well as the town on Sunday night. Kids used two cups and a string to talk with each other across the street. Vintage hotel, vintage hospitality. We have stayed at nicer hotels, and have definitely stayed at worse. Not sure if we ever stayed at one where we ever felt...

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are clean, simple and functional. The breakfast put together with care. The hotel is well located in the centre of town just a few steps from the water. While the hotel does have everything you need for a stay, the real reason to stay is the hospitality of the owner. Kind and friendly, he really charmed us and showed a side of Denmark we hadn’t seen yet on our trip.

I had lost my backpack on the other side of the island and sensing my distress he immediately offered to drive me himself to find it, despite it being a large inconvenience for him. Very hardworking owner -...
