Fjelsted Skov Kro — Hotel in Middelfart Municipality

By far the worst hotel I have ever been at. To call it a hotel is wrong, yet alone to claim it has 3 stars.

Me and my wife came in to check in at 20:40 (latest check in was 21:00) and everything went well until we came to the room. First we noticed the smell as if something was rotten, we believed it not to be a huge issue since we were only planning to be there for one night. Unpacked and started noticing the huge amount of bugs and insects inside, even found a spiders nest with eggs in the curtains. At this time, it was passed 21:00 so no one to claim to. Went to the bathroom and now also noticed the toilet hadn’t been cleaned. Mentioned this to the reception the day after during checkout only for her to say that we should have called, even though it was after 21:00 someone could have answered and helped us get a better room. Perhaps true but the question is why was the room so discussingly dirty but still ok for the “hotel” to rent out. Do not book here, even though it has a high rating you will find the majority of the high ratings are several years old.

Last note. Ate their so called breakfast (extremely low alternatives) and now found myself to be stomach sick.

Overall a nice stay if you're going to stay for 1 night and need a travel stop.

The good: Very good breakfast, big enough room, nice piece of land to play or walk around the hotel area. Seems like a food forest with a lot of fruit trees. An ecological marvel! They also have some beautiful deer in an enclosed area. And a big and free (this is special in Denmark) parking place. The staff are very friendly and speak good English. There also is a really cute giftshop at the main entrance. The bathroom was clean and all towels were provided. They are also a 1 minute ride from the highway if you need to go to Copenhagen, Göteborg or Oslo.

The bad: The art in building C where we slept is weird. There is a strange indian? figurine in front of the window and there are a lot! Of clown paintings in the hotel which I think only belong in a circus. Also there are some grey looking angel paintings which formed a sharp contrast with all the clowns. Luckily there where no clown paintings in our room ;). They also send you a lot of totally unnecessary emails after you have booked there and the rooms are a bit dusty. My husband and I were travelling from Rotterdam to Sweden by road and found this hotel in Denmark. We booked for going up and our return journey.||We arrived after 8.30pm when dinner had ended, but we asked if there was anywhere we could eat as we had been on the road for 12 hours due to the horrendous traffic through Germany and the bad storms.||They very kindly made us dinner and it was lovely.||We retired to our very clean hotel room.||Breakfast the following morning was plentiful and fresh and we went on our way.||We stayed again Sunday evening 15th September. As the food was so nice, we decided to eat at the hotel and again was not disappointed. Very tasty and very filling.||All the staff here are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.
