Yet again, with my birthday to celebrate, we decided to give Purhus Kro, a whirl once more.||Some people might think that my reviews are maybe a little biased, or ficticious. Well, let me tell you something, dear Tripadvisor reader. The food our party of 4 have just experienced, is nothing short of WORLD CLASS.||None of this snobby gourmet crap, with a microscopic bit if fancy food in the middle of the plate. No, no, no......||My Weinerschnitzel was the size of a badminton ketcher, my wife's "Stjerneskud" was hanging over the plate. My daughter's steak was probably the biggest meal she has EVER eaten, in all her 16 years !!||Not only were the portions immense, but the quality of the food is magnificent. Good home cooking is how i like to describe it. Food made the REAL way, with love and affection.||Without doubt, the ONLY place in The ENTIRE area, that can deliver the goods - properly.||I can honestly say, that if it wasn't for the fact that it would probably have killed them, i would probably have asked the owners, to carry me to my car. I could hardly move.||One final touch to a memorable evening was definatly the Union Jack flag on our table to mark my birthday. I wonder where they found that ????||Remember, only visit Purhus Kro if you're hungry. REALLY...
Read moreThis guesthouse looked a lot more friendly in daylight - arrived here after dark and locked myself into the room (found a note at the front door with my name and room No.). ||||The rooms are in a side building in the backyard, all at ground level. So if you would like to get in to someones room, just put your hand through the window and reach for the lock switch. Not for the faint hearted or women travelling on their own.||||The interior dates back to the nineties, and is in desperate need for upgrading. The luggage shelf simply broke down when I put my HANDBAG on it :-p||||The breakfast was quite average - OK but nothing more, served in a dark, depressing room at the back of the main building. ||||It was really nothing here I would come back for, there are plenty of other KRO options in Denmark that will suit you better...
Read moreThis was such a refuge having raced to the sjellands odder ferry from an awful hotel in Vedbaek. We had nowhere to stay and this wonderful old inn gave us a lovely if slightly dated room, with a shower that older people can actually use and very comfortable beds. Dinner service had finished, it was 22.30, but we were given large glasses of red wine on arrival. Thankfully we crawled into bed and awoke to find the inn was in a lovely forest area, a very good breakfast and could continue our journey through Denmark very refreshed! Could be a very good base for a cycling or walking holiday. Would certainly...
