We traveled from Copenhagen to Als, excited to experience Dyvig Badehotel, which proudly presents itself as a 5-star Relais & Châteaux property. Unfortunately, our experience was the exact opposite of what you would expect from a hotel of this caliber.||The Booking:|I booked through Bookhotel.direct, which appeared directly via Google Maps’ “All options/Compare prices” feature. The confirmation email clearly stated a package including accommodation, afternoon coffee with petit fours, a 4-course dinner at Restaurant Vigen, and breakfast with local specialties – all for DKK 2,595.||The Arrival:|Upon check-in, the receptionist asked me to pay DKK 2,595 + DKK 500 deposit and offered to book a table for dinner. I explained that our package already included dinner. Confused, she called the general manager, John Amstrup.||Interaction with Management:|John insisted that “such a package does not exist” and blamed the issue on a third-party booking site. I showed him my written confirmation, but he dismissed it. When I suggested paying for a simpler package (accommodation with breakfast only) at a lower price listed online, he refused. He asked us to wait in the room while he checked with his system.||Later, he called us in the room and said the only option was to pay the full DKK 2,595 – without dinner – even though I had clear proof of the contrary. He told me that I was “only looking to argue until I get something for free” and gave me an ultimatum: either accept his terms or pack up and leave. He then hung up on me.||The Final Confrontation:|Back at the reception, John showed me an email he had sent as a “clarification.” In this message, he essentially placed the responsibility on me as a guest for knowing which third-party platforms his hotel appears on. He even forwarded me an internal confirmation email (which I had never received before) showing only “room with breakfast.” While I was trying to read it, he spoke over me, explaining it in a condescending tone.||At one point, he even showed us a Facebook Messenger thread from someone claiming they did not know the package existed. When my partner laughed at the absurdity, he turned to her aggressively and asked, “What are you laughing at?” in a threatening manner. At that point, I asked her to leave the lobby because the situation felt increasingly uncomfortable.||Conclusion:|We left the hotel, shocked and disappointed. For a property that claims to be 5-star luxury, the treatment we received was unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. Most concerning of all: the very same package we booked is still available on Bookhotel.direct – despite the manager insisting that it does not exist. This means other guests can easily fall into the same trap.||If you value professionalism, respect, and reliability when booking a luxury stay, I cannot recommend Dyvig Badehotel. Our experience was stressful, disappointing, and the opposite of what you would expect from a hotel of this...

The steak tartare and moules frites was a hit too. |The wonderful manager was taking care of his guests as if we were in his home with a smile the whole time we were at Dyvig. |Attentive waiters and a great service all in all. ||Now, this should have a review on its own .. Read moreThis hotel is just perfect! We stayed for 4 nights in August between having a few days in Copenhagen and a few days in Aarhus. The food is wonderful- there is a choice of two restaurants- a brasserie and the more special restaurant. If weather allows, food in the brasserie is served on the heated and sheltered terrace which has great views of the marina. |The interior design is beautiful and every little detail has been given a great deal of thought. My husband loved to stand on our balcony gazing at the view. We also loved to jump off the wooden jetty into the water to swim. Lots of residents swam on a daily basis. There is an inflatable slide/ trampoline that’s ideal for age 10 and up. |Breakfasts are served on the terrace or in the main restaurant and are very special. |Exquisite cakes are served in the champagne and tea salon. |A very comfortable hotel that makes each resident feel very special. We would heartily recommend. Suitable for all ages but ideal as a romantic destination for couples. Easy to cycle to local beaches. Sønderborg is...
