Nymindegab Kro — Hotel in Varde Municipality

Bad service at Michelin prices... We had quite a shocking experience regarding a vegan menu which consisted of mainly cheese (which isn’t vegan) and plain raw vegetables.. basically just the garnish from the other dishes, like shredded cucumber. When we addressed this issue, the next courses didn’t change in character at all, so we expected to get some kind of discount. When this was requested we were asked to step into the back kitchen to talk to the chef, which we found very uncomfortable and unprofessional? Especially due to the behavior of the chef, who didn’t allow us to get one word in, but was simply just yelling and defending his “fantastic” food. We ended up paying an outrageous amount, like it was a Michelin restaurant for poor food and poor service. Very disappointed. The nature surrounding this hotel/inn is a gem. However, one could have wished that the place itself had used the outdoors as an inspiration to decorate the rooms in a more original and charming way. |The view is magnificent, but the room doesn’t provide an ambiance that encourages to just sit and enjoy nature. For sleeping it works, but no more than that. The food was ok. They serve fresh oatmeal as an alternative to a nice variety of breakfast servings. Attended a wedding and dinner was ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. |All in all this is a great escape from hectic daily life, but it does not quite provide a touch of resort which would have been perfect for this location. As we have heard good feedback on Nymindegab Kro from friends in the past, we decided to head there for dinner.|The food was okay but nothing fantastic considering the price level.|However the service was of incredible low level and our waitress had no idea about anything concerning the food and wine on the menu. |Although my partner was misguided about the ingredients in her starter and therefore did not like it, the food was of good quality.|Considering the other nice eateries in the vicinity I would say that Nymindegab Kro is only worth it if you are especially interested in a beautiful view....
