We just spent two nights camping at Ulvshale Strand in our camper caravan. We absolutely had a great time. We are in our early 50's and are fairly active. We love nature and travel with our giant dog, Millie. ||||We pulled into UlvsHale about a half hour before they close for two hours in the middle of the day (12-2). We went into reception and we were immediately greeted by a very nice person who said we could go take a walk around and pick our campsite and come back and register. So off we went for a walk. ||||Its a lovely campground with trees and open spaces. Some spaces would be too close to the road for our liking and some spots were not level enough but we had a fair bit of choice. About half of all the sites are seasonal campers who are there for the summer and the beach. You seem to have a mix of people from retirees to younger active people with sailboards, kayaks, etc and bicyclists who are out touring. There is an area with a primitive playground and there were some families camping up there but in general it seemed like a quiet place for more nature loving adults. Suits us fine. ||||We got our nice spot in a clearing under a couple of lovely trees. We had plenty of space and set up was easy. We had power but no water hook up. You can load up at the nearby service area though. Since we were only staying the weekend not having water hook up was not a big deal to us. We made sure our campsite had good internet reception before we set up. It can be sketchy in some areas of the campground. ||||We want to give this place 5 stars because the beach, which is just a minute walk from your campsite, is GORGEOUS! I come from the Atlantic Coast of Canada and love my ocean and beaches. This beach rivals some of the best beaches I have been on - including Hawaii and Florida. It is long...really long. I would think even in the heat of summer you could find your own niche spot on it with no problem. It has silky soft sand with a nice mix of round smooth beach stones. The water is clear and beautiful in colours of blue, teal and aqua. The dog had a wonderful time playing in the fun surf the first night. The next day it was much calmer and you could see how you could walk out quite far on the sand. We didnt swim as it was a bit chilly out. Although we saw several people go in. ||||So why only 4 stars. Well its nothing really bad its just that if you are use to top class camping facilities they arent at UlvsHale. Yes the bathrooms are clean and the showers are great. There is cooking facilities and washing up spaces. You can empty your toilets etc. We used the family shower room behind the reception area in the morning. It worked well and the shower was fantastic. Plenty of hot water at good pressure. The toilet area uses a code system so you dont have to take your card with you everytime you need to use the toilet. The cards are for when you shower and for returning into the campground if you go off in your car exploring. So services operate simply. The campground has everything you really need but there may not be enough of them if the place is hopping in the summer. You may end up waiting for showers for a few minutes etc. We have stayed at Camping Møns Klint also which is a great place with super facilities especially if you have kids. Yet Ulvshale, being right on this most beautiful beach and going to sleep with the sound of the surf is just so peaceful and more back to nature style of camping which we like. Both places have their charms and we will be going back to both. ||||There was no problem with the dog. In fact, most people were wanting to talk to her. Her size and friendly nature makes her a magnet for people. There were plenty of hund hooks around when we needed to go in the toilets or wash the dishes etc and she was welcome on the beach with no issues. As a matter of fact several times on the beach we had the beach pretty much to ourselves. Being so close to the camper its a lovely place to take a bottle of wine and sit on the beach at night. ||||Weather. We had great weather. We had wind which I think is quite prevalent there. Which is probably a good thing. Being so close to salt marshes the mosquito population is probably high. We saw a few but nothing obnoxious and the wind kept them away for sure. If it was a hot day with no breezes I am sure they could be a bit contankerous but as I said I think the wind is rather prevalent in the area. ||||We took a lovely drive to the nearby island of Nyord and visited the walk in only village. What a charming place and there are plenty of opportunity to grab a meal or a coffee inbetween a great stroll. Again Millie was welcome most places. ||||If you love nature there is a bird reserve there and plenty of opportunity to see amazing birds. You are not far from much for good drives. We visited Liselund Slott Park and had a wonderful time. Møns Klint itself is not far if you want to go to the Geological Centre and walk down the stairs to the beach and view the cliffs. The town of Stege is not far off and it is a nice stroll. There are lots of biking pathways etc. ||||We really enjoyed our weekend here and most definitley will return. We dont live very far from here. Its so nice to have such a lovely natural place to camp at so close to home. Check out was simple and very quick. We felt we got very good value...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience in this camping. ||We arrived 30 minutes after the reception closed , so we parked beside the camping to enter the next morning; after 10 minutes the receptionist knocked our door asking if we wanted to stay , and she kindly opened the gate to let us in, asking to show up at the reception the next morning, so we agreed that.||||The next morning , we went to the reception to register for the previous night as agreed and pay, but when we said we were leaving the same day (the beach was very smelly and full of mosquito) the guy at the reception started to treat us very arrogantly, for no reason. We then just paid the full price for 1 full day (even if it was only 10 AM and we arrive 9,30PM) and asked where the showers were; at this point he went mad and did not allow us take a shower again for no reason considering we paid the full service 1 minute before....anyway to resume , we paid the full service and 1 second later were told that cannot use any service and treated like bad animals, so we left...I suggest you to...
Read moreWe visited this campsite at the beginning of july without a reservation. We stayed for 7 days with our folder (vouwwagen, klappwagen, tente plié).|The campsite has large pitches, which are not precisely bordered. We arrived during the day and the reception was closed, but they opened it for us. We could choose a place and we ended up next to the childrens playground. We had a view on the dunes and sea! The pitches are grass with some sandy spots. We had an amazing time there. We saw a fox passing in the dunes behind our tent early in the morning. The other guests were relaxed people. The shower and toiletrooms are very clean. There is also a covered picknick area near the kitchen. The staff is friendly and very helpfull.|We paid 1374 DKK / 186 euro for 7 nights, 2 people including electricity...
