We stayed one night because our flight got cancelled by Delta. Delta gave us a hotel voucher with meal vouchers for dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Initially, I was just so grateful that Delta covered it. The front desk staff was nice and helpful to check us in. However, the restaurant staff at night was absolutely horrible. The restaurant knew that we had the cancelled flight meal vouchers and didn’t care for us. We waited about 45 minutes with no greeting or drink order (we only wanted water but not even offered) before I went up to the front and asked for a menu, which was special only for the cancelled flight patrons. The waiter was incredibly rude. Even after finally getting a menu, we continued to wait for someone to come to us but no one came. There were three of them and they would walk so fast past our table to go to another table who were not from the cancelled flight. I would understand if it was a busy busy night but the least that they can do is come up to us and talk to us. After another 45 minutes of no water, no food, no one, we were able to wave down one person who seemed more helpful. The other two never acknowledged or looked at us. I understand that we had a voucher and there were several of us from the cancelled flight, but it wasn’t our fault that it was cancelled. My table was not the only ones who experienced this. I asked another table who I recognized from the flight and they said that they were ignored and had to make themselves known, even though they were seated a table right in the middle. I don’t know if the restaurant was short staffed in the kitchen and did not expect a bigger crowd on a Tuesday night, which again I would understand if it was busy. But it really was not. I also saw some guests who were not from the flight that were served much quicker than those from the cancelled flights. We had to ask the “nicer” guy one more time about our food and waters because we don’t know if he just kept our order in his pocket and didn’t submit the ticket to the kitchen. In total we waited for almost 3 hours. There was no other place to eat so we had to stay to be able have something in our stomach for the night. We were completely ignored and they made it so obvious that they favored other guests. It was just such a disappointing end to our trip in the Dominican. This experience made me so happy to return home. Our flight was cancelled and the restaurant experience was so negative. I will say that the breakfast buffet that we also received a voucher for was a much better experience. The morning restaurant staff was kinder. We didn’t want to stay at this place as much as they didn’t want us. I hope that whoever gets their Delta flight cancelled (not to wish that on anyone else), they don’t...
Read moreWhen I booked I requested a shuttle pickup at airport at 4pm. And only later after I was able to check email I received from reservations "We offer shuttle at 8:00 am at 9:00pm, in this case you can take a taxi en the airport" Best regards, Alexandra Fernández
Paid for taxi $15US to hotel.
Upon arrival bellboy watched us unload luggage and carry luggage without even opening the door
In their reservation email it says "Our complimentary shuttle service from and to the Cibao Airport is just the beginning to your experience"
And the website advertises prominently advertises shuttle service 5:00am - 9:45pm Welcome drink marketed but not received.
On a positive the bed was comfortable. Overall room is fine the furnishings are a bit stained, worn, and laminate peeling on tables. The big drawback was putting us in an adjoining room (ours #415) which we could hear another’s guests every belch. Also AC unit has problem which it makes a loud knocking noise every time it shuts off
The night before we requested a 5am taxi return to airport since they said no shuttle.
Morning of departure downstairs at checkout we see hotel shuttle at 5am. I inquire and I'm told it's not for guests but airline personal only. So I ask where is the taxi we requested the night before. They say we have no record of this so we request another and wait for it. We arrive at airport with just enough time to catch flight but much undue stress (and another $15US).
Very unprofessional hotel and not one I'd recommend to travelers. Our second choice hotel hotel century plaza was a 1/3 the price at RD2500.00, very responsive, and had near dining options. The only reason we didn't select was late arrival and early departure plus free shuttle offer.
PS. After looking into Hodelpa further many of the previous reviews appear to have people creating fake accounts. Notice how many are one review 5 stars for...
Read moreI always choose to stay at Hodelpa Garden Court! Whether it’s a quick trip to visit family or a short getaway for 1, 2, or even 3 nights, this hotel is my go-to. Yes, the hotel is clean, spacious, and well-maintained, but the real reason I always return is because of the people—the exceptional service!
The staff always remembers us and treats us like family. Diana at reception, along with Adiony (aka Arcángel—you know why!), and the entire front office team are absolutely incredible. I even had to take a selfie with them because they’re that amazing!
Our favorite servers and bartenders—Joshua, Hansel, Vicente, Ivelisse, Julissa, and one other whose name I unfortunately forgot—always go above and beyond to make our stay special.
I also love the sustainable garden on the property; it’s such a beautiful touch. My favorite drink is the mojito, and the breakfast buffet is fantastic—the pastries are a must-try! For lunch, the chivo is absolutely delicious every single time.
Another great perk: if you head into Santiago, you can dine at Noah and other participating restaurants, and just by showing your hotel key, you’ll get a discounted price on your bill. Such a thoughtful feature!
The only thing I’d wish for is a bit more entertainment in the evenings, especially during happy hour—maybe some live music or a singer to add to the ambiance.
I will...
