Hotel Novus Caoba — Hotel in La Hispaniola

We’re grateful to have a place in my moms hometown to lay our head; a spot with working AC, patient & helpful staff and a nice little balcony to sip on the mandatory Presidente 🍺 But the overall establishment could benefit from a DEEP CLEANING, a fresh coat of paint EVERYWHERE & better maintenance of furniture and amenities in the rooms and hallways! Or replacements (my bed was slightly tilted, the sink and bedside lamp were rusted). My Clorox wipe shouldn’t be picking up dirt off of the remotes, knobs & fixtures. The tub may have been cleaned but not scrubbed down. With 3.9 stars you expect the basic amenities, hot water, a bath mat, a shower curtain (instead of a liner on mismatched hooks). I knew I would have to make some comfort adjustments, which was fine. It’s just hard to ignore the lack of attention to detail, big & small! The ONLY reason this review is getting any stars is because of the service! The service I would dare say is 4-5 stars! The few employees I saw were all multitasking (the receptionist was taking food orders, the bartender helped us with our television & hot water situation, the gentleman that helped us with our luggage, replaced the refrigerator & provided a small table for our things in the bathroom w/o us asking!). The food was good but the room and hall ways were dirty and had many bugs. We were in the room and there was a lizard that came out from underneath the bed! It crawled up and went inside the air conditioning. I found many bugs in the bed sheet dead if alive. I felt disgusted. My body felt itchy and the bathtub was nasty I had to switch rooms! Then we found more bugs in the bed too! I think it was baby cockroach’s idk tho. We had to call my uncle which he was moved down stairs. We slept there. I didn’t tho. In that room it look more cleaner smelled cleaner too. But,the ceiling were very dust and dirty the bed sheets were stained! I DONT RECOMMEND COMING HERE!!! The hotel was very good. The service was excellent. Very friendly personnel and attentive to our needs. Starting with the hotel manager Yasiris Peña and the excellent service carried through out all the personnel. Yasiris was always making sure our needs were met. Very friendly men and women at the front desk and lobby Alejandra and Anna were always helpful. Loved the service at the restaurant. Always catering to our needs and the food was very tasty. Juliana and her staff at the restaurant made us feel welcome and at home. Manuel was always attentive at the Lobby and making sure we had what we asked for.
