We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Green Forest Eco Lodge for the 4-day, 3-night tour, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. From start to finish, our stay was filled with adventure, nature, and warm hospitality.
Our highlight was definitely our guide, Jimmy. His passion for the natural surroundings and the animals was infectious, and he made us fall in love with the Amazon even more. His knowledge and enthusiasm added an extra layer of enjoyment to the entire tour.
The program itself was simply amazing. We had the opportunity to visit an indigo village nestled deep in the rainforest, embark on a thrilling night hike, and take numerous boat rides along the Amazon, where we could even go for refreshing swims. Every activity was well-planned and provided a unique perspective on the incredible biodiversity of the region.
We were fortunate enough to encounter a wide variety of animals during our stay. From monkeys, anacondas to sloths and fascinating ant eaters, the Amazon truly revealed its secrets to us, which was an unforgettable experience.
The food at the lodge was outstanding. Each night and lunch, we were treated to a delicious three-course menu that satisfied our taste buds and provided a glimpse into the local cuisine. Coffee was always available, and the fresh and flavorful fruits added a refreshing touch to our meals.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, offering a cozy retreat after a day filled with exploration. The beds were equipped with mosquito nets, which proved to be essential as the huts are open to the surroundings. Despite being in the heart of the jungle, we felt safe and well taken care of throughout our stay.
Overall, we consider ourselves blessed to have had the opportunity to experience the Green Forest Eco Lodge. The tour was nothing short of amazing, and we would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable adventure in the Amazon. It truly deserves a...
Read more10/10 experience at Green Forest and far exceeded our expectations. We had a fantastic time led by our guide Chabel, captain Henry, the chef, server and camp manager Ines.
The agenda was packed with activities - all optional but if you wanted to make the most of the experience you could be out almost all day! We stayed 3 nights and 4 days, and had many canoe rides birdwatching, animal spotting and caiman hunting, learning all about their habits and behaviours from our guide. We also hiked in the Forest, learned all about native plants and indigenous uses, swam in the Laguna Grande, visited a local village to make cassava bread and visit the shaman, went piranha fishing… There are also paddle boards and kayaks available to use in your downtime as well as hammocks and deck space overlooking the river to relax.
The lodge itself is relatively small, a max capacity of 30 guests (only 9 during our stay) which means that it is constantly peaceful, quiet and you feel like family. The rooms are simple but functional and comfortable, each with a private terrace and hammock in front, plus HOT running water with great water pressure, a huge bonus in the middle of the jungle! The food was also EXCELLENT. So much variety, we didn’t eat the same thing twice during our stay. Plenty of fresh fruit, lots of veggies, grilled meat and fish, shoutout to the chef’s garlic salsa - far surpassing previous experiences we’ve had in the jungle.
One final mention to the friendliness and warmth of the Green Forest staff, we were sad to leave at the end of our stay.
Highly recommend a stay at Green Forest, and also recommend a 3 or 4 night stay if you are able to truly make the most of a magical experience...
Read moreThe accommodation from which we set off on our tours was perfect. It had comfortable rooms with bathrooms, and we were provided with three meals a day. In our free time, we swam in the river and went SUP. In the evenings, we usually took a motorboat to the nearby lagoon, where we swam some more or did more SUP while watching the sunset. When we returned, we might enjoy a cocktail before going to bed.|But the truly amazing thing, of course, is the rainforest itself! We enjoyed every tour! Our tour guide, Elvis, a nature enthusiast, not only knew fascinating facts about monkeys, sloths, dolphins, and other 'star animals', but also about almost every insect and plant. By the way, except for the jaguar, we encountered all of the Amazon's 'stars' up close. So, caimans, river (pink) dolphins, many different kinds of monkeys, sloths, anacondas, boas, piranhas, toucans, and giant tarantulas were all observed living their lives. How does the sloth live in symbiosis with the moss and worms in its fur? How does the zombie fungus work, and how do ants defend themselves against it? And which ant colony do we let crawl on our hands and crush on ourselves so that its smell protects us from insect bites? Or which palm leaf should we wash our hands with? Why are pink dolphins pink? Feel free to ask! :D I am a moderate animal lover, but it's hard not to become one in the Amazon, especially when hiking with Elvis.|The cliché that everything lives in the rainforest accurately describes its incredible...
