Be careful if you book this hotel through booking.com!!!!||I did stay there for 2 nights, 3 days, and it was genuinely good. Anyway, for our little budget, the food and drinks were quite expensive, so my family and I decided to eat and drink somewhere else. The host kept asking me, really rude, how it was possible I did get that offer for rooms that were more expensive. I explained that I did book in advance, and those where the prices on the website. ||She kept complaining, and tried to sell us literally everything: she was quite pushy about eating there, saying the town was expensive and that was the best offer around... she asked me to be quick on my decision, because they work with pre-orders... I didn't like the rush, neither the tone she was talking to me. So, we did stay there, but obviously eat somewhere else (I am not going to pay $9pp for bf in Ecuador, like... I know the real prices). ||Long story short, because we didn't eat there, or buy the $20 honey she offered to us, or get a medium glass of wine for $9... and we paid cash (she literally said card was not acceptable), so they told booking we didn't show up!!! Wtf? They decided to cancel our booking!!!! They didn't do check-in and check-out in booking, so now that woman is trying to get my money again!!! What a face!!! ||I do have pictures with my family in the hotel, I have more than proof that we did stay. ||BE CAREFUL BOOKING HERE!!! More if you decide not to use their...

Read moreMama Hilda's is the perfect place to end a day of hiking or motorcycling the Quilotoa Loop. The rooms are somewhat primitive but have ensuite bathrooms and nice local decorating touches. The grounds are secure and picturesque, and the restaurant and lounge areas a really nice. ||||Mama Hilda was there to greet us in person and show us to our room. Security is simple - lock your room with a padlock from the outside when you are away, and from the inside while you are in your room.||||A delicious local dinner was served community-style and we had the chance to meet other travelers while enjoying salad, meat stew, homemade deserts and wine. Breakfast consisted of eggs with ham, fruit and bread. It was cold at altitude, and the lounge had a raging fire with self-service honor bar and comfortable seating. There is also an outdoor patio that is perfect for star gazing.||||This would probably rank as a 3 star hotel, but for a remote hostal on the Quilotoa Loop it is definitely a 5...
