Like many others, I stayed here as the first night of our Tren Cucero train trip. I had checked the reviews beforehand so I knew that everyone said this was the most basic accommodation during the trip and we were duly warned by our guides. ||||Given that I knew what to expect I found it quite reasonable. The room was clean and comfortable and, fortunately, I had no problems in relation to hot water. In fact it was quite hot and plentiful but the provided toiletries were basic. Our rooms were in the main building which might have made a difference.||||Our provided dinner was nothing exciting but was tasty and my steak was cooked to my liking - medium rare.||||As has been previously mentioned, wi-fi was only available in the lobby and no, you can't expect 5 star service. I think people need to stop worrying about is everything they receive 5 star. It was never advertised as such and getting to see what a local hosteria is like is part of the experience of going to a different country. If you want a 5 star hotel which is all marble foyer, bell boys and room service etc which could be in any city in the world, you might as well stay at a 5 star place at home.||||Staying up in the cloud forest, and you certainly could tell we were doing so when we stayed, was an...
Read moreThis stopover was part of the Tren Crucero trip & we were warned this was the only hotel in the area so not to expect to much.||||In fact it was better then we had expected. Reception was a bit spartan but at least you had free WiFi in fact the whole hotel seemed like a student dorm. Rooms big enough for one night & one or two bits falling off & a varied water pressure but it had air conditioning it was clean we even had two towel swans on our bed with sweets. Slept OK but we had good neighbors who did not stay up all night watching TV as the walls are on the thin side plus I am sure that the floor boards were not sealed as you could see light coming up through them.||||Bar parson looked a bit out his depth but we eventually got our drinks. Food both at night & at breakfast was very good so was our service.||||All things considered we had a good night here but would not like to stay for more than a couple of nights but there again you are not in a big city or town you are out in the countryside so you should not...

Our room was on the first floor, had two double beds, tile floor, shower, a/c, non-operative mini fridge, flat screen TV. The room could have been cleaner. I noticed a few smashed bugs on the floor. The wifi only worked in public spaces and not in our room.|All that being said, we had a tasty pasta dinner, cold beer, good service. Slept well and then enjoyed a decent breakfast before heading out the next morning. |Our fellow travelers were all relaxed by the third evening together. I think the D'Franco could have sold more cocktails had they been better staffed. We had to hunt down the manager to get our drinks.|This is the only place to stay on this leg of the train trip. I'm glad I'd looked at the reviews before we arrived so I was prepared and was able to...
