TERRIBLE SERVICE
The hotel building is relatively new. I stayed in a decent room with ocean view. I would say that the building (the facility) was the only thing that treated me good. On the other hand, the staff that works in that hotel (human resource) apparently does not have the slightest education or training, not even the most basic concepts of hotel service and tourist treatment.
I am from Guayaquil, but I live in USA for several years. I love my country, I love to visit it, and explore new ecuadorian tourist attractions. In fact when I have the opportunity to promote Ecuador in the USA, I do and I suggest to my friends where to go and what places to visit. But in this case I would NEVER recommend LA RIA - PLAYAS HOTEL. Maybe there will be people who are accustomed to bad service. But my opinion, and not being that demanding, based on seeing those prices that LA RIA charges that resemble a 3 star Hotel in Naples, Florida, the least that I can expect for what I am paying is to receive a good welcome from the FRONT DESK, and a fair good service in general.
One guy from the front desk guided me to my room, and explained me the services of the room and TV functions. He left, and then I closed the door, staying with my family inside. LITERALLY, 1 minute later he knocks the door again to tell me that I NEEDED TO REMOVE MY SISTER-IN-LAW FROM THE ROOM, BECAUSE THE ROOM IS ONLY FOR PAID GUESTS, AND THAT I NEEDED TO BE UNDERSTANDING TO REMOVE HER. I was like ????? I mean, my intention was never to have more people in my room, other than me, my wife and my daughter! All of us, PAID GUESTS!!! . In fact I WAS JUST ARRIVING FROM A LONG TRIP FROM USA, GYE-PLAYAS!!! My sister-in-law was the one who drove me from Guayaquil to Playas doing me a favor for the ride, and all she did was helping me to take some suitcases to the room. In fact I arrived late and I was leaving in 10 minutes for a wedding (the purpose of my visit). No one was going to stay in the room at that time I arrived. And of course, my sister-in-law (who already had a reservation at HOTEL BELLAVISTA in Playas) was leaving too. But this guy, I don’t know who he is used to treat or talk to, coming to me with these insinuations and attitude, gave me a bad first impression about this hotel.
Breakfast the next day was another bad experience. The woman who works at the hotel believed herself to be the owner. COMPLAINING ABOUT EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING BOTHERED HER, SHE KEPT ARGUING WITH HER PARTNERS. Then her attitude towards me and my family was like she was doing me a FAVOR.
This same woman gave us the "nice" farewell. She ordered an employee to go and RUN! with the keys (that I was returning at check-out) to see how the room was left, like I was stealing something. LITERALLY RUN!!. Meanwhile, my family and I were still in the lobby, calm, we were taking our time to take the luggage to the car. I noticed the desperation of those employees to see if we were taking something from the room with us. Again, this kind woman, with her unfriendly facial expressions and bad attitude, EVERYTHING BOTHERED HER, our presence in the lobby, even if I was trying to ask her something regarding the final bill, it was an annoyance for her. I was NOT feeling a “LA RIA” GUEST, INSTEAD I FELT WORST THAN STAYING FOR FREE.
The only person I can say welcomed us and received us with a smile was the SAFETY GUARD. PLEASE, MANAGER OF “LA RIA”, GIVE THIS GUY A CHANCE, CONSIDER HIM, SINCE HE DESERVES TO WORK ON THE FRONT DESK rather than that bunch of UNPROFESSIONAL, AND RUDE PEOPLE you have there.
And please, to whoever is reading my comment. I reiterate, I have visited hotels with different stars and ratings ... and yes, I HAVE ALWAYS FOLLOWED THE RULES AND POLICIES OF HOTEL FRANCHISES, HOTEL CHAINS OR SINGLE OWNED MOM&POP HOTELS, and I HAVE NEVER GIVEN REASONS TO RECEIVE THIS KIND OF SERVICE OR BAD ATTITUDE. So TRUST ME, THOSE WHO CONSIDER THIS “LA RIA” HOTEL, UNLESS YOU LOVE BAD SERVICE,...
Read moreWe needed a hotel to spend a few days whilst we wait for our flight to Galapagos. After doing research we found that Playas was the closet beach town to Guayaquil and not wanting to spend several days in the city we opted instead to stay at Playas and found the Hotel Rías. As we had a very tight schedule, we wanted to optimize our time we contacted to hotel to arrange our pickup and drop off from Guayaquil airport. The best way to contact/organize with them is via their WhatsApp business account which you can reach at +593960541292. I prearranged all the hotel prices and transport into one total bill for which they sent me an email link which I could pre-pay with my credit card before arrival. They did a really good job of organizing the pickup and someone was waiting for us at Guayaquil airport with our name on a board and we were quickly on our way to the hotel. The hotel itself is quite small and minimal but very functional and offers great WiFi, good bar service, and easy access to the beach .||PROs|* Located in a quiet area away from the main city beach area|* Great bar with good service|* Very accommodating staff can address most if not all your needs |* very quick taxi service ||CONs|* Small windows in the room we had||TIPS |* Contact Essily via WhatsApp for beach service - Cabanas, Food, Beer whatever you need, he has a really sweet 6 year old sister who helps him out, we enjoyed talking to her +593981026364|* Hot water in the shower is on the left, let it run for 2-3 minutes|* get COVID tested at Laborotorio San Andreas +593981896037|* everyone can be contacted...
Read moreThe hotel is very nice and well located. There is a nice area outside with a swimming pool and an access to the beach. The staff is also very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. The room is not that big but everything is clean and the bed is comfortable. However, the hotel is not very well soundproofed and you can hear noises from the neighboring rooms which made it hard to sleep in...
