Good:||Close to airport||Wifi ok/free||Room ambiance was nice||Good security||||Not so good:||A LOT of traffic noise on the road side throughout the night||Tiny bathroom||Not enough to cook anything with in the kitchenette including salt or pepper - only 1 teabag per person etc.||Forced to communicate electronically and questions still left unanswered throughout stay ||We needed luggage storage and had requested information repeatedly even from before we even made the booking (however online it did nominate storage as an option) ||- we were given NO indication that there would be any kind of fee (and in all hostels/hotels we have ever booked this is a FREE service). ||The owner decided that at 7pm the night before we left (as shes about to go home and were just settling up our bill and brought our bag down for storage) that she was going to charge $4/day - for 3 weeks!!! That's $84!!! ||As we were due to leave at 4am (before reception opened) and she was well aware in advance that this was the case we were completely backed into a corner with no other option. We settled on $50 which is still an exorbitant amount for doing nothing but having one bag set aside somewhere out of the way.||AND THEN....just as we've contacted to say when we were on our way back we get an email saying we paid $50 for 2 weeks (not 3) and would need to settle the rest on return. ||Due to a very heated response from myself on the facts of the situation she agreed that that was the case.||She didn't even bother responding to a time on when we could discuss settlement on our return so we just went and picked up our bags the day we said we would be there. ||||So in short - lovely room but possibly the cruelest customer service I've ever come across....up until that point I would have given 4-5 rating but I'm so disgusted by the situation I wanted to give 1 - settled...
Read moreThis is more like a B&B than a hotel, in that it is basically a part of someone's residence. It is located in a residential neighborhood and is about a 10 minute walk from a major mall. In Guayaquil, location is not all-important because of the wide availability of taxis at a low cost. We recommend using the Easy Taxi app. || The service at El Patio is excellent! Delia Robinson, the owner, and her daughter picked us up from the airport at about 1 AM. Anything we needed help with, she was very responsive.||Our room was basically a studio apartment with an efficiency kitchen and two twin beds. It had granite countertops, nice cabinetry, AC, and was clean and well decorated. The rain head shower provided nice warm water, but it really only came out at a trickle. That was a bit of a minus. The beds were fairly comfortable but not like at a high-end hotel. ||The one big drawback, and it wasn't a huge problem for us because I'm a heavy sleeper and my wife wears ear plugs, is that the place is right in the flight path of the nearby military airbase. A few times each night and several times each day there are large aircraft taking off and, with some windows being permanently open to the outside, it is extremely loud when they fly over. ||Considering all of these factors, plus the price, I would recommend El patio suites and would consider staying there again if...
Read moreThe hotel is located very close to the airport, the aircraft most of the times take off heading to the hotel and when the aircraft flies above the hotel ( 50 - 100 m), the noise is literally excruciating. If you are a person who wakes up with small - medium noise, at 6 in the morning each day you will be already awake.||||It seems to me the hotel doesn't have any measure against the noise of aircraft. In Europe this hotel will be banned until acoustic isolation has been placed to protect the rooms against the noise.||||The hotel doesn't have reception desk and you rely on the owner when she is there or you will need to give her a call.||||Rooms are new and very good, if you can sleep with strong heavy noises around you, this is your hotel.||||Please keep in mind, you will have to pay electricity charges of your room, cleaning charges and 6% more if you use your...
